Shanks is the pirate who has inspired Luffy to sail into the sea and dream of becoming the Pirate King. He is also a former crew member of the legendary pirate, Gol D. Roger. This time, the writer will discuss about the reasons why Shanks is the right Yonkou to beat Marshall D. Teach!

Shanks and Teach are both Yonkou, the emperors of the sea whose role is to maintain the world balance. Even the government is very frightened of the collaboration made with two Yonkou. The combination of power between two Yonkou will be a nightmare for the World Government. 

For example, the World Government fear when Shanks meeting with Shirohige. The Marines has tried their best to stop them, but failed. From their meeting, it can be concluded that Shanks and Teach both have mysterious past. 

Shanks arrival at the Marines headquarter during the great war seems intended to help Shirohige. Because at the end of the meeting of the two great powers, there did not seem to be a serious problem happened between the two of them. Shanks must have a good reason to help Whitebeard.

Right now, Teach wields the power of two Devil Fruits which are Yami Yami no Mi and Gura Gura no Mi that he got from Shirohige. Those two Devil Fruits have dangerous and destructive powers. So, how do you think Shanks can deal with a monster like Teach? The answer is pretty simple.

Shanks indeed doesn’t have the power of the Devil Fruit and only fight using a sword. However he has a great Haki. His Haoshoku Haki becomes a powerful weapon that can be used to beat Teach.

Based on fans theory, Teach’s Devil Fruit abilities has a certain limit to absorb something. Not all objects can be absorbed by the power of Yami Yami no Mi. A person’s strong determination cannot be absorbed by his darkness.

The source of Haoshoku Haki power is the user’s strong determination. We have seen how strong the Haki possessed by Shirohige and Shanks when they fight. The sky above them even split in two. This is a proof that Shanks’ control on Haoshoku Haki is the key to be able to beat Teach.

Luffy did have a great hatred towards Teach because he is the one who captured Ace and handed him to the Marines. So, that is one of the reasons that made Ace killed. But, the one who is angry the most is probably Shanks.

It seems that Shanks have made an agreement with Shirohige which aimed to create peace, but Teach killed him. Shirohige’s death certainly made Shanks fear that the position in the Yonkou would be occupied by the person like Teach who has evil intention. It is a big reason if later Shanks would be the one who hunt and beat Teach.
