In 2019, we found a few popular video game genres. Starting from MOBA, FPS, Battle Royale, to Auto Battler. Among those genres that came and can be played, surely they are popular this year, but there are few that fade away. To welcome a new year, so what video game genres will stay popular in 2020? 

5. Survival

Survival is a video game genre that allows players to survive from a catastrophe that occurs to the main character. Either a disease, nature, or an attack from various factors. To survive, usually, the main character must obtain various items to achieve targeted goals. Those items later also must be crafted to become a tool that helps the main character to pass many in-game obstacles.

4. Role-Playing Game

RPG games on PC are almost nonexistence, but unlike on mobile version. In the mobile version (both on Android and iOS), RPG games turn out very popular, and nearly every new game released on this platform.

Also, the developers’ revenue from RPG games turns out pretty massive! This is also due to the gacha feature that forcing players to burn their money to get a character with high rarity.

3. Battle Royale

The success of Bigetron RA on bringing Indonesia into international competition worth many praises and appreciations. This is proving that the Indonesian PUBG Mobile team cannot be underestimated. Getting to another game with similar gameplay, Free Fire. The Island of God team also managed to bring the first rank to the country on Asia Invitational by beating the strongest team from Thailand, Thonburi. 

Looking at the massive achievements given by Indonesian teams in an international championship in this genre, making Battle Royale will be more prevalent in the future, especially in 2020. 

2. First Person Shooter (FPS)

Call of Duty Mobile becomes the most popular game in this year. Using the FPS genre, this game is a product of collaboration between Tencent and Activision that managed to shock Indonesian players. Even yet to reach its fifth month, Garena already announces the first tournament called Major Series 2019. In the Grand Final, later on, 14 December 14, 2019, there’ll be four teams to compete for a total prize of Rp110.000.000. Due to its success, the FPS genre may be more popular in 2020.

1. Multiplayer Online Player Arena (MOBA)

Mobile Legends Worlds Championship M1 becomes the massive competition ever held for Mobile Legends in this year. Two teams from Indonesia, EVOS Esports, and Rex Regum Qeon (RRQ) managed to make Moonton hold the M2 in Indonesia. Due to the success of Mobile Legends in 2019, surely, MOBA will still shine in the future. Also, another MOBA game will be released, titled League of Legends Wild Rift, that has been anticipated by gamers.
