About Shadow Raid

Shadow Raid is a new type of Raid that you can find in a Gym controlled by Team GO Rocket (TGR). Previously, TGR could only control Pokestops, but now they are extending their power to Gyms. There are three levels in this Raid, namely 1-star, 3-star, to 5-star. 5-star Shadow Raids are usually dominated by legendary Pokemon.

In Shadow Raid, you will face Shadow Pokemon left by TGR to guard the Gym. The 3-star and 5-star Shadow Raid bosses can grow bigger when they get angry, increasing their attack and defense. If this thing happens, then it will be much more difficult to beat them.

Like regular Raids, trainers can play Shadow Raid using the Raid Pass. However, please note that trainers can't use the Remote Raid Pass, in other words, they have to go straight to the Gym. Shadow Raid also doesn't give team bonus prizes like Premier Balls.

Shadow Shards

By beating Shadow Raid or defeating Team GO Rocket members, trainers can get Shadow Shards. Shadow Shards can also be combined into Purified Gems, a special item that can be used to weaken Shadow Raid bosses. You need 4 Shadow Shards to make 1 Purified Gem.

As mentioned above, there are moments when Shadow Raid bosses will get angry and get bigger, increasing their attack and defense in the end. This is when Purified Gems are needed. You can store up to 10 Purified Gems in your inventory.

You can get 1 to 6 Shadow Shards each time you complete Shadow Raid. Rocket Grunts give 1 Shard, Rocket Leaders (Arlo, Sierra, Cliff) give 3 Shards, while the boss, Giovanni, gives 4 Shards. Don't worry, every Raid you take part in will definitely give you a Shadow Shard.

Purified Gems

As we mentioned earlier, Purified Gems are to weaken Shadow Raid bosses. There are various ways to use this item in battle:

• You and other trainers can use more than 1 Purified Gem during battle. If used at the same time, the effects will stack.
• When using Purified Gems, the attack and defense of the Raid boss will decrease. This will be your chance to continue attacking the boss.
• If you use a certain amount of Purified Gems, the angry Shadow Raid boss will return to normal mode which means it will be easier to beat.

In order to use Purified Gems in the most effective way, you must team up with other trainers to defeat Shadow Raid bosses.
