Are you one of the people who’ve spent a lot of time playing Pokemon Go in 2016 when this game first came out and ditched this after a couple of months? If so, you’re not alone because when the Pokemon Go hype’s over, a lot of players left this game due to the lack of new features. But now, the situation has changed.
Although there was a decline in the number of players in 2017, this year, Pokemon Go is getting busier. There’s even a big chance that this year, Pokemon Go will rake its highest revenue in the history of the game.
This is caused by many new Pokemon as well as new features, such as PvP, trade, and Community Day provided in this Niantic game. If you’re interested in making a return in Pokemon Go, now’s the time, because this game has just got significant improvements compared to the first time it’s launched.
Here are the guides and information of what you should know if you’re making a return in Pokemon Go:
Raids
One of the biggest updates in Pokemon Go is a feature called Raids. With this feature, players are able to get various strong Pokemon that appear randomly as Raid bosses at the gym.
There are five levels of Raids that you can face. Starting from level one which you’ll be fighting against Pokemon that you’ll be able to defeat alone, to level five against a Legendary Pokemon that requires teamwork between numbers of Pokemon Trainer.
Aside from collecting several rare Pokemon through Raid, you can also get a lot of new items. Raid is also the right idea to build your Pokemon team while getting to know other Pokemon Go players.
Field Research
In March 2018, Pokemon Go provided new features called Field Research. This feature challenges you to complete different missions every day for a week. If you’re able to complete the whole seven of them, you will be able to get an opportunity to catch a rare or even legendary Pokemon.
You can get those missions through PokeStop. Every player is only allowed to have three missions at the same time. If there’s a mission that you feel to difficult to complete, you can throw it away and get a new one in PokeStop.
You are able to complete several different missions for each day, but to complete Field Research and getting rare Pokemon, you have to complete seven missions in seven different days.
New Generation Pokemon
Up until this article being written, Pokemon Go has already provided Pokemon from Generation 1 (Kanto), Generation 2 (Johto), Generation 3 (Hoenn), Generation 4 (Sinnoh), and also several Generation 5 (Unova) Pokemon. Usually, Pokemon Go includes its new Pokemon gradually.
Quoted from Gamesradar, up until now, there’s already 634 Pokemon that you can catch in Pokemon Go. This number will only grow if you take several Pokemon with Alola form and Shiney into account.
This number increases drastically compared to the first time the game launches, keeps on challenging you to catch new Pokemon you’ve never caught before.
Community Day and Events
One of the things that make Pokemon Go even more fun in 2019 is Community Days and new events. On Community Day, for three hours, a Pokemon spawn frequency increased drastically. Now’s the right time for Pokemon trainers who wants to collect candies from those Pokemon or just looking for their Shiney form.
Every month, Pokemon Go holds Community Days for different kinds of Pokemon. Aside from the increase of Pokemon spawn frequencies, trainers can also get a lot of other bonuses on Community Days.
In addition to Community Day, Pokemon Go also holds other events. One of them is the Halloween event that just ended. At the last Halloween event, Ghost-type Pokemon got their spawn frequency increased. Besides that, there were also several exclusive Pokemon types that can only be caught throughout the event.
Trainer Battle
After such a long wait, finally, in December 2018, Niantic provided PvP mode in Pokemon Go with Trainer Battle. As the name suggests, in this mode, you will fight other trainers using three Pokemon to come out as the best.
Technically, Trainer Battle divided into two different classes depends on Combat Point (CP) limits. Pokemon, with the CP of 1500 and below, will compete in the Great League. Meanwhile, Pokemon, with CP of 2500 and below, will fight in the Master League.
Trainer Battle itself has begun to be contested at the annual Pokemon Championship in Washington DC this year. It seems that this mode is going to be the go-to mode in Pokemon Go onwards.
Team Go Rocket
If in the Pokemon anime there’s Team Rocket who is the main antagonist, in Pokemon Go, there’s Team Go Rocket. Different from the anime version, which often kidnaps Pokemon, Team Go Rocket rules the PokeStops and disturbs the trainers who are trying to get items from those PokeStops.
Your task is to banish Team Go Rocket’s members by defeating them through a Trainer Battle. If you succeed, you’ll have the chance to catch evil Pokemon used by Team Go Rocket’s members.
Be careful since sometimes Team Go Rocket Leaders will intervene and fight you directly.
