Who doesn't know Peter Parker aka Spider-Man? The young man who loves to take photos and works as a photographer is indeed famous not only in comics, but also in animated versions, films, and video games. Even Peter Parker reappeared in the film Spider-Man: No Way Home which was released at the end of 2021.
But did you know that Peter Parker is not the only Spider-Man? It turns out that there are several other Spider-Man who are played by different and maybe even cooler figures than Peter Parker himself, one of which is Toei's Supaidaman.
Fyi, Supaidaman was created when a production company called Toei Company entered into a cooperation contract with Marvel -- at that time with Stan Lee to use the Spider-Man franchise in Japan. Meanwhile, Marvel can use the Shogun Warriors franchise owned by Toei in America. The Toei version of the Spider-Man series was finally released in 1978 and became the origin of the super sentai series industry.
Well, Supaidaman aka the Japanese version of Spider-Man has a number of differences that the American version of Spider-Man doesn't have. What are they? Let's look at the following list, guys.
1. Using Mine Rope to Swing
In 1978 there was no technology that could create a Spider Web or like in the Spider-Man movie we have today. So that in the making of Spide-Man or Toei no Spider-Man films, they use minimal equipment. Unlike the American version of Spider-Man's Spider Web, the Japanese version of Spider-Man is actually seen using a thick "rope". Even to catch the enemy, the net used is like a net to catch fish.
2. The Main Character is Not Peter Parker
Furthermore, the thing that most distinguishes the Japanese version of Spider-Man from the American version is that the main character is not Peter Parker. However, the Japanese version of Spider-Man uses a different concept and name for the main character. Spider-Man, directed by Toei Company, tells the story of a 22-year-old young man from Japan named Takuya Yamashiro.
Even so, Peter and Takuya still have a number of things in common, such as both keeping their identity as Spider-Man a secret and also pretending to be weak when not wearing a Spider-Man costume. Even the motivations between Peter and Takuya are similar, if Peter decides to become Spider-Man after the death of Uncle Ben, then Takuya wants to take revenge on an evil organization called the Iron Cross Army that killed his father.
3. A Motocross Racer
Unlike Peter Parker, who is described as a photographer for the Daily Buggle newspaper, Takuya is described as a motocross racer. His hobby of playing motocross makes him meet the destroyed UFO and meet Garia.
4. The Spider-Man Costume is Kept on His Wrist
Peter Parker in Spider-Man: No Way Home used a sophisticated costume that uses nanotech, so he no longer needs to carry a bag everywhere. Well, it's almost the same, Takuya's version of Spider-Man's costume was also quite sophisticated at that time. Because the costume is stored in the bracelet worn by Takuya. The costume will appear when Takuya makes a change move or "Henshin". Uniquely, when Takuya has used the Spider-Man costume, it ends with the sound of a closed zipper.
5. Also has a Girlfriend
If Peter Parker is told to have a girlfriend named Mary Jane Watson in the Spider-Man story. Takuya also has a beautiful girlfriend named Hitomi Sakuma, a freelance photographer who is only 20 years old. The interesting fact is that Hitomi is the only character who drives with Spider-Man using The Spider Machine GP-7, aka Spider-Man's flying car.

6. Has Two Siblings
Another difference with Peter Parker is that Takuya also has two younger siblings. The first sister named Shinko Yamashiro is 18 years old who is in charge of taking care of the Yamashiro family's residence. His second younger brother is Takuji Yamashiro, Takuya's youngest brother who is only 7 years old. Of course this is different from Peter Parker who is only an only child who lives with his uncle and aunt.
7. Got His Power from Garia
Peter Parker has great powers as a result of being bitten by a mutated spider. Unlike Takuya, he actually gets his power from Garia, an alien who has lived for 400 years from Planet Spider. Garia gives his powers by using the Spider Extract -- a device that injects Takuya with superhuman strength. After giving Takuya the power, Garia finally died and turned into a spider.
8. Own a Flying Car
Takuya's version of Spider-Man may be the only Spider-Man who has a super-sophisticated vehicle. He is said to have a flying car called The Spider Machine GP-7. The car is also equipped with a weapon system and rockets that can be used to immobilize the enemy.
9. Marveller
The part that makes the Japanese version of Spider-Man different is that he also has a giant spaceship called Marveller. The plane can be summoned by Takuya to transform into mecha form. This robot transformation scene became the starting point of the revival for the next super sentai series that rode the mecha robots produced by the Toei Company.
10. Leopardon
The Marveller spaceship can also turn into a mecha when a flying car enters it as a control center. With orders spoken by Takuya, Marveller turns into a mecha robot named Leopardon. By using the giant mecha robot, Takuya's Spider-Man can defeat enemies who turn into giants. Leopardon has a height of 60 meters with a total weight of 25 thousand tons.
This also makes Takuya's Spider-Man very special because he is the only Spider-Man who has a giant mecha. Leopardon also has a weapon in the form of a sword called Sword Vigor.
