The clash between Alter Ego and Bigetron Alpha in the MPL ID S15 playoffs has shaped up to be one of the most anticipated matchups.
Both teams have finished the regular season with identical records—9 wins and 7 losses—and were only separated by a head-to-head tiebreaker, placing BTR in fifth and AE in sixth.
Despite an inconsistent season, Alter Ego have secured the final playoff slot. A major roster overhaul has drawn plenty of attention, with only Nino remaining from the previous core.
The other four players—Dreams, Hijumee, Rine, and Arfy—have brought fresh energy and dynamics to the team.
Alter Ego's Preparation Against BTR
As they prepare to face a BTR squad with strong momentum, many have questioned AE’s readiness, especially in terms of mental strength. But Alter Ego’s head coach, Xepher, has offered a calm and confident response.
“Preparation for BTR in the playoffs? We’ve just played like usual, honestly. I don’t think there’s anything to really worry about mentally. It’s only Nino left from the old roster, the other four are new, so mentally it doesn’t affect us that much,” Xepher explained during a press conference.
Xepher’s words have made sense. In a BO5 format, consistency and adaptability have been the true keys—not legacy or past pressure. With a revamped lineup carrying less psychological baggage, AE have had the opportunity to play more freely. Especially with Dreams and Hijumee, two players who have already gained plenty of playoff experience.
On the other hand, Bigetron Alpha have not been an opponent to take lightly. Finn and Anavel have served as strong anchors, Luke has continued to grow in the EXP lane, while Emann and Moreno have developed into reliable damage dealers and objective handlers. This combination has made BTR look more stable than in previous seasons.
This match has become a battle of coaching philosophies. Xepher’s flexibility and willingness to experiment will be tested against Tazy calculated, disciplined approach. Whichever team has maximized their potential more efficiently will likely emerge victorious.
Alter Ego may no longer be the star-studded team they once were, but with underdog status comes an element of surprise. BTR may hold the head-to-head advantage, but when playoff pressure rises, only the calmest and most prepared will advance to the next round.
