PlayStation Announced “Play at Home” Campaign For Gamers Who #Stayathome

In this campaign, PlayStation shared many exclusive games for free. What are those games?

Sony and PlayStation realized the circumstance that gamers currently facing; run out of video games to play because they had to stay at home to prevent COVID-19 from spreading. To accompany gamers who couldn't go anywhere, Playstation released a campaign titled “Play at Home” on Wednesday (15/4).

Hence the campaign’s name, “Play at Home” invited gamers to stay at home while enjoying PlayStation 4 games. What made this campaign interesting was Sony’s decision to share a few exclusive games for free.

Officially, the games shared by Playstation via the “Play at Home” campaign would be Uncharted: Nathan Drake Collection and a contemporary game titled Journey. In Uncharted: Nathan Drake Collection, you could play Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune, Uncharted 2: Among Thieves, and Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception.

All games above obtainable for free starting from April 16 to May 5, 2020. The “Play at Home” initiative also applicable for all Playstation servers except in Germany and China, where the offer would be replaced by Knack 2.

People around the world have done a great thing by keep staying at home to prevent the COVID-19 from spreading,” said PlayStation via their official announcement. “We also pay attention to our responsibility on providing entertainment at home seriously, so we also ask for your community to keep supporting the safe choices and continuing Play at Home,” it added.

Surely the free games offered by Playstation proven to be very meaningful in this current condition. The Nathan Drake Collection at least could offer 30 hours of playtime, this number could increase twice if you wanted to clear all side quests and getting the Platinum Trophy.

Meanwhile, the playtime that you would spend on Journey would be infinite because the game didn't have an ending. In the game, players would be challenged to travel the vast dessert with many mysteries. This game also could be an interactive medium with other players with its online multiplayer feature.

Supporting Indie Game Developers

Alongside the “Play at Home” campaign, PlayStation also announced its support to indie game developers in the middle of hard times like this. This Japanese company announced that it had prepared $10 million or around Rp157.5 billion to make sure the survival of indie game developers that currently have a partnership with Playstation.

Independent developers are the heart and soul and very vital for the video game community. We know exactly with this crisis and financial troubles that currently faced by small studios,” as quoted from the Playstation announcement.

Playstation also announced that gamers’ happiness who could enjoy those games during times like this couldn't be separated from indie game developers’ hard work. “We know this is one of many small steps and we are grateful to show this support to our players, communities, and partners,” said PlayStation, closing the statement.
