FFML Season III Division 1 Final Match had been officially held. We have found the 6 best teams that are obliged to proceed to the FFIM 2021 Spring Grand Finals. However, something interesting about the final FFML standings, namely the draw points between EVOS Esports and DG Esports.
With both teams having 112 league points, EVOS Esports and DG Esports were fighting for the Runner Up in Group C, just below Island of Gods. Based on PD's calculations, Garena stated that DG Esports was the one who managed to secure the spot.
Survivors were wondering, with the results of Final Day 2, EVOS Esports was better than DG Esports, but why DG Esports managed to proceed to FFIM 2021 Spring Grand Final? Here's the full explanation.
What Is Point Difference (PD)?
In the Esports Battle Royale, the terms “placement points”, “kill points” and “total points” are commonly known. Placement points are points obtained based on survival sequence, while kill points are obtained from killing opponents. These two points are added up to get the total points.
Some of you haven't heard the term called PD. PD (Point Difference) is the accumulation of “total points” earned by a team during the Group Stage. For FFML Season III, PDs are collected from Match Day 1 to 12.
In this FFML season which uses the league point system, the PD system is used as an alternative if there is more than one team that has the same league points, or in this case, it's between EVOS Esports and DG Esports in group C.
DG Esports and EVOS Esports PD Calculation
Here’s the detailed calculation of the placement points, kill points, total points, and PD obtained by both DG Esports and EVOS Esports during Match Day 1 to 12 in FFML Season III Group Stage:
DG Esports
- Match Day 2 : 40 placements + 36 kills = total 76 ; PD : 76
- Match Day 3 : 52 placements + 30 kills = total 82 ; PD : 76 + 82 = 158
- Match Day 5 : 43 placements + 39 kills = total 82 ; PD : 158 + 82 = 240
- Match Day 6 : 29 placements + 18 kills = total 47 ; PD : 240 + 47 = 287
- Match Day 8 : 47 placements + 28 kills = total 75 ; PD : 287 + 75 = 362
- Match Day 9 : 27 placements + 19 kills = total 46 ; PD : 362 + 46 = 408
- Match Day 11 : 38 placements + 32 kills = total 70 ; PD : 408 + 70 = 478
- Match Day 12 : 20 placements + 17 kills = total 37 ; PD : 478 + 37 = 515

EVOS Esports
- Match Day 2 : 21 placements + 19 kills = total 40 ; PD : 40
- Match Day 3 : 29 placements + 20 kills = total 49 ; PD : 40 + 49 = 89
- Match Day 5 : 38 placements + 35 kills = total 73 ; PD : 89 + 73 = 162
- Match Day 6 : 24 placements + 19 kills = total 43 ; PD : 162 + 43 = 205
- Match Day 8 : 33 placements + 31 kills = total 64 ; PD : 205 + 64 = 269
- Match Day 9 : 28 placements + 35 kills = total 63 ; PD : 269 + 63 = 332
- Match Day 11 : 45 placements + 32 kills = total 77 ; PD : 332 + 77 = 409
- Match Day 12 : 33 placements + 24 kills = total 57 ; PD : 409 + 57 = 466
Based on the calculations above, DG Esports managed to secure second place in Group C because they had a higher PD than EVOS Esports.
So that's the explanation why with the same league points, DG Esports managed to beat EVOS Esports and advance to the FFIM 2021 Spring Grand Finals.
