Pokémon fans, get ready! A unique and scientific book that delves deep into the lives of Pokémon is on its way. Titled the Pokémon Ecology Encyclopedia, or more commonly known as Pokecology, this book offers a fresh perspective unlike any previous Pokémon publications. With high-quality illustrations and thorough research, it's exciting news for anyone looking to understand the Pokémon world from an ecological standpoint.

Shogakukan, a well-known Japanese publisher, has confirmed that Pokecology will be officially released on June 18. Unlike previous Pokémon books that focused on general information with standard illustrations, Pokecology is a more ambitious project with a scientific approach. The hardcover book contains 192 pages and will be sold for ¥1,430 (around $10 USD). It is already available for pre-order at various retailers, including Amazon Japan.

What makes this book so special is the involvement of professional ecologist Yoshinari Yonehara as the lead researcher. He studied over 1,000 Pokémon to analyze their behavior, interaction patterns, and social relationships in the Pokémon world. His main focus was to portray how Pokémon live in the wild and interact with each other as if they were real-life creatures. This approach makes Pokecology more than just an ordinary encyclopedia—it’s a serious fictional ecological study.

The illustrations are equally impressive. Chihiro Kinoshita, an artist known for illustrating ecology books, is responsible for the book’s visuals. All artwork will be in full color and highly detailed to highlight the biological traits of each Pokémon. Interestingly, both Yonehara and Kinoshita graduated from the University of Tokyo’s Faculty of Agriculture and Life Sciences, giving this project strong academic credibility.

Although there’s no news yet regarding a global release or an English version, the enthusiasm from Japanese fans is already apparent. Pokecology has even reached the second spot on Amazon Japan’s bestseller list before its official launch.

With a fresh concept and academic approach, Pokecology has the potential to become a must-have for devoted Pokémon fans. Who knows, this book might just be the beginning of a broader exploration of Pokémon as a subject of fictional science.
