The famous video game company from South Korea, NetMarble, will soon release their latest game titled Magic Mana Strike. Magic Mana Strike comes as a Real-Time Strategy (RTS) mixed with Card Battle.

Familiar Gameplay With Various Innovations

If you have played RTS games like Clash Royale or League of Wonderland, surely familiar with this kind of gameplay. You are tasked to unleash many cards, where they are creatures with unique abilities. Every card needs energy before they unleashed akin to Clash Royale.

So what makes Magic Mana Strike unique? This game has various colors (or elements) on each deck. There are five colors available: White, Blue, Red, Black, and Green. Every color has its skills, e.g., Red that can swipe the entire enemy’s card or Blue, that focusing on crowd control.

You have to pay attention that each deck has its own set of cards. You cannot place a card that only suitable on one deck to another. Like card A (that can only suitable on Green deck) want to be placed on Red deck.

One thing that differs Mana Strike with other RTS Card Battle games is the Planeswalker feature. What is Planewalker? A planeswalker is the core of a deck or can be said as the strongest card. Planeswalker itself doesn’t need energies to be unleashed. Still, you cannot use two Planeswalker together at the same time, because it only can be unleashed if there’s no Planeswalker on the battlefield.

Different than standard cards, every Planeswalker has its skill, like burst damage, or a buff skill to give additional attack damage to your cards.

How to Increase Power on Each Deck

You can increase every power on each card by relying on the Level Up feature that can be found on the Card tab. But to increase the level, you need a few similar cards and sufficient costs. These cards can be obtained via a pack from gacha after a battle. If your gacha is terrible, you can immediately purchase the card you desired from the shop, and the card price depends on the card’s rarity.

Also, you can also purchase a Planeswalker but at a higher price. Sadly, the Planeswalker level follows the account’s rank, so you cannot upgrade it like other cards.

What is Account Rank?

As you read beforehand, the level of the Planeswalker is very dependant on the account’s rank. What is the account rank? Account rank is a skill rating from each gameplay that comes in the form of points. The more points you get after a victory, then the more points you will get.

There are nine ranks on this game, starting from Wanderer, Pioneer, Leader, Successor, Conqueror, Ruler, Watcher, Prophet, and Guardian. Each rank has its points, and if you want to reach Guardian tier, at least you have to reach 2400 points.

How to play Magic Mana Strike

At the start of the game, you and your opponent will be given two defense towers and one core tower. Each player will get one point if there’s one tower destroyed (players can get a total of three points if a player manages to destroy all towers). The player who manages to destroy all towers first, then he or she will be the victor, and the game ends.

If both players cannot destroy three towers, then the winner will be determined via how many towers they have destroyed.

It’s different than other RTS games. Here, you can release many armies as well as the Planeswalker. Due to its uniqueness, you can unleash your Planeswalker first, then support it with various cards on your deck.

Don’t let your Planeswalker defeated because the range for you to unleash the troops later only will be around the base, and it’s concise. Maximize your Planeswalker’s skill as much as possible. Use the card wisely at the proper time because it will press the enemy.

Each card has its weaknesses as well. Because of that, you have to pay attention to your enemy’s deck. Don’t let enemies destroying your towers.

Magic Mana Strike’s Graphics

Even though it comes as an RTS Battle Card, Magic Mana Strike has a 3D graphics that will soothe your eyes. Instead of soothing, the details make the game heavy. The writer played using Asus Max Pro M1. In this device, the game often experiences frame drops, especially before the game starts and exiting the battle.

Even though it doesn’t affect the fun during the battle, but this lack must get more attention.

Deficiencies

Like other video games, Magic Mana Strike has some flaws, starting from the graphics department that we have written above. On the gameplay, players fells like as we are not allowed to be creative on experimenting with the deck. This thing comes as a two-edged sword; either it serves as the advantage or disadvantage.

Also, there is no option to play a normal or ranked match. The developer surely knows the condition where players must experiment at first before playing on the ranked match.

Even though training mode available (versus an AI), but players still need feedbacks from other players nonetheless because the AI’s intelligence level is significantly different than the player’s intelligence level. It’s hoped for the later update the developer can introduce a normal match mode.

Verdict

To hook RTS players, Magic Mana Strike is a pretty good game where this game introduces innovations by having Planeswalkers. The neat UI makes this game easy to understand, even for newcomers.

But one unfortunate thing, this kind of game is already so many scattered on Play Store, and it’s hard for the game to survive in the market. Magic Mana Strike also must include few improvements, especially on the graphics that writers still consider it as too heavy.
