Recently, employees at Raven Software decided to walk out. This incident is a response to the unilateral termination of employment of other employees last week.
Citing Theverge.com, dozens of Raven Software employees who were laid off are members of the QA (quality assurance or tester) team. Those whose contracts are terminated should be offered full employment positions. Previously, the ten employees had their contracts expired on January 28, 2022.
A number of those who protested also said that the laid-off employees were in "good performance", many employees who had not been laid off were still unsure about their employment status. The statement also underscores the important role of the QA team or testers for Call of Duty: Warzone, one of Activision Blizzard's FPS games.
They also explained that the company made a profit of at least USD 5.2 million or around IDr 75 billion per day since the game was released.
"Terminating the contracts of high performing testers in a time of consistent work and profit puts the health of the studio at risk," Raven Software employees said in a statement.
In response to this, a spokesperson for Activision Blizzard confirmed that the company had notified employees whose contracts were not renewed. Activision Blizzard also refused to provide information regarding the number of workers per studio whose contracts were terminated. However, the spokesperson also said that they have changed the status of about 500 temporary workers to full-time employees in the coming months.
Currently, Activision Blizzard is also tightening the company's management following the lawsuit. This well-known publishing company is accused of "cultivating" a culture of sexual harassment against other employees. This raises Activision Blizzard's work environment oversight. Even a Wall Street Journal report says Activision Blizzard's CEO has been aware of allegations of sexual misconduct at the company for years.
It doesn't stop there, Activision Blizzard will not even appear at The Game Awards 2021 which will soon be around the corner. Even so, the CEO of Activision Blizzard was still displayed as one of the advisory boards at the event.
