Regnum Carya Esports clinches victory at PMGO 2025, marking the successful introduction of the first Smash Rule in an international competition
The PMGO 2025 Main Event kicked off on Saturday, April 12, 2025, featuring a total of 6 matches across 3 different maps. Notably, the tournament introduced the 'Smash Rule' system, which requires each team to meet a points threshold to conclude a match by achieving WWCD.
The first day was filled with unexpected twists. R8 Esports made history as the first team to secure WWCD. Following them, several other teams also claimed WWCD, including Nigma Galaxy, Regnum Carya Esports, REJECT, The721 Agressor, and Regnum Carya Esports once more in the final game.
With an impressive performance, Regnum Carya Esports topped the leaderboard with 61 points, followed by LGD Gaming with 50 points, and GOAT Quality in third place with 49 points. Other teams, regardless of their standings, still had opportunities to catch up on the second day.
The surprises continued into the second day of the Main Event. GOAT Quality, representing Uzbekistan, kicked off the day by achieving WWCD, followed by Nongshim RedForce in the second game on Erangel. Several teams from the Prelims also showcased their skills.
Black Esports secured WWCD in the third game, followed by NEPX Esports, UPGrade, and finally, The721 Agressor, who closed out the second day with a WWCD.
By successfully meeting the PMGO 2025 Smash Rule criteria, Regnum Carya Esports emerged as the champion with the highest points. Nigma Galaxy took second place, while The721 Agressor rounded out the top three.
It will be fascinating to see how Regnum Carya Esports' victory under the Smash Rule format influences future PUBG Mobile tournaments. Could this lead to the Smash Rule becoming a standard requirement? Only time will tell.
