Not just Indonesia, Thailand has tons of great horror movies with intense plotlines and horrifying ghosts -- giving the audience a good fright. On this occasion, Dunia Games would like to recommend the seven best Thai horror movies that you can still watch in 2021.
So, which are the best Thai horror movies? Without further ado, let’s get into it!
1. The Medium
The Medium is one of the best Thai horror movies. It follows a shaman, Nim, who possesses a family in a remote region in Thailand, Isan. The people in Isan believe that evil spirits can take over a shaman’s body during certain ceremonies.
The locals in Isan still believe in mysticism. Thus, they have faith in these kinds of traditions. Their belief in spirits, which they’ve had for years, has led to them building a place to pray.
This film focuses on the creepy vibe around the Isan remote region.
2. The Maid
Next up, we have The Maid. The movie follows Joy, who works as a maid for a wealthy family consisting of Uma, Nirach, and their daughter named Nid. Wan, the head of the housemaids tells Joy not to interfere with their employer’s business.
Ignoring the warning Wan gave her, Joy experiences a series of strange occurrences in the house after sneaking into Uma’s study one night. Joy finds a picture of Uma, Nirach, and another maid, Ploy, who turns out to be Joy’s long-lost sister. The house has been haunted by Ploy’s spirit, and Joy & Nid are the only ones who can see her.
3. Coming Soon
Coming Soon tells the story of Shane, who’s in desperate need of money. He decides to make a bootleg movie by recording one in a movie theater with his friend, Yod. Shane and Yod have their own duties -- Yod is the one who records the movie at the cinema, while Shane’s the one who deals with the recording afterward. When the movie “Evil Spirit” is being played, Shane falls asleep throughout the entire movie.
Not long after that, they are being haunted by the ghastly ghost from “Evil Spirit”.
Coming Soon gained its popularity with the timing of its jumpscares and the well-written script.
4. Shutter
From the same director of Coming Soon, Shutter is another scary Thai horror movie that follows Jane and her boyfriend, Tun, who are being haunted by the spirit of a woman after a hit-and-run.
Shutter may remind you of the classic Japanese ghost Sadako -- the long-haired female ghost dressed in white. Both The Ring and Shutter share the same creepy vibe.
5. Ghost Game
Ghost Game is a 2006 movie with a theme of a deadly reality show -- which is somewhat similar to Squid Game. Eleven contestants are sent to an abandoned military prison that harbors a bloody past.
The contestants have to survive the strange occurrences that happen in that area. And the last one standing will win the 5 million Bath cash prize.

Once he arrives, Mak experiences strange events in his home.
One of Mak’s friends visits him and sees Mak spending his days with Nak. The villagers are aware that Nak had actually died in childbirth. Realizing that Mak has been under the charm of Nak’s spirit, Nak is getting more restless as she can’t accept the fact that she’s died.
The villagers who try to tell Mak about the fact are getting killed one by one by Nak’s spirit.
