Playing video games is a fun activity. But getting too invested in a game is unhealthy, you can get game addiction and even spend way too much money for something that’s not useful.

Recently the internet is shocked by a 14 years old gamer that got scammed after spending his father’s  300 thousand ringgit or Rp1 billion for a gamer girl he met on Facebook.

Citing Bernama.com, Pahang Commercial Crime Investigation Chief Supt Mohd Wazir Mohd Yusof said that he received a report from a 53 years old man that his son is a victim of a scam.

It started when his son befriends a girl from Facebook that sells smartphones at a cheap price on Facebook. The son then contacted the girl known as “Anis.” They contacted each other through Whatsapp and played PUBG together.

From there son grows closer and believed what the girl says. The girl tricked his son into believing that she is borrowing his money and will return it soon. The teenager makes 21 transactions since May 2020 to transfer the money. And the father only realized this last month.

Bothered by his son’s behavior, the victim’s father then reported to the police so the love scam case that cost him his money can be investigated.

Cases like this often happen with an individual pretending to be a girl that will date you online. The perpetrator will try to gain the victim’s trust with promises so the victim will transfer a sum of money.

Be alert and be careful! Be a wise gamer and don’t spend your money wisely so you don’t put others down.
