Kled Rework Confirmed: From Assassin Niche to True Bruiser in Patch 25.14

After years of being known as an off-meta top laner with a quirky playstyle, Kled, the cantankerous rider of Skaarl, is finally getting a major rework. Announced by Riot Games designer Nick “RiotEndstep” Fridge, the upcoming rework in patch 25.14 will significantly change the way Kled is played.

The most notable change? Kled will no longer encourage assassin-style builds and will instead be reimagined as a true bruiser with more sustain, durability, and consistent teamfight presence.

🧠 Why Does Kled Need a Rework?

There are several key reasons Riot is updating Kled’s kit and role:

1. Unique Mechanics, But Unintuitive

Kled's dual HP system and mount/dismount mechanic with Skaarl can be difficult to master and off-putting to newer players.

2. Inconsistent Hybrid Builds

Currently, Kled is often played with lethality or burst items, making him fragile and unreliable in late-game teamfights.

3. Low Presence in Pro Play and Ranked

Due to his all-in playstyle and unreliable utility, Kled rarely appears in pro matches or high-ranked solo queue, especially compared to more stable bruisers like Garen or Renekton.

🔧 What’s Changing in Kled’s Rework?

RiotEndstep outlined several key focus areas for Kled’s redesign:

  • Better Scaling With Bruiser Items
Items like Goredrinker, Stridebreaker, and Sterak’s Gage will synergize more effectively with his new kit.

  • Increased Sustain & Durability
Kled will perform better in extended fights with better defensive and healing mechanics.

  • More Tactical Mount/Dismount Timing
Riot aims to make the Skaarl dismount/remount mechanic more rewarding for players who time it strategically.

The rework is currently in development and Riot is actively gathering feedback from the community ahead of its official release in Patch 25.14.

🐴 Is Kled Ready to Ride Back Into the Meta?

With these updates, Riot hopes Kled can once again become a viable top lane threat, without having to rely on fragile assassin builds. Long-time Kled mains are likely excited, while newer players may find the champion more approachable and effective.

If you're a fan of bruiser champions with high-risk, high-reward mechanics, now's the time to prepare — Skaarl is making a comeback in a big way.

🔚 Conclusion: A New Era for Kled in Patch 25.14

Kled’s rework is more than just a numbers tweak — it’s Riot’s effort to revive a unique champion and make him a more compelling option in modern top lane meta. With bruiser-focused updates, improved sustain, and refined mechanics, Kled is poised to return stronger than ever.

Are you ready to saddle up and scream your way to victory? Patch 25.14 will be Kled’s time to shine.
