Major Changes in League of Legends Season 2024 Gameplay
Here are season 2024 gameplay changes, starting from Void influences and terrain adjustments to new items that have arrived on PBE! You can see a short review here!
1. Changes in the Void
- Voidgrub & Voidmite, Voidgrub is the new resident of the Baron pit who will replace the first Rift Herald in each game before finally leaving in the 14th minute. After five minutes, three Voidgrubs will spawn, each with a respawn timer, and a maximum of six can spawn in a single game. When attacked, each Voidgrub will release a swarm of Voidmites to attack its enemies. Players who slay the Voidgrub will gain the Hunger of the Void buff which provides damage over time and bonus damage to buildings. This buff stacks based on the number of Voidgrubs defeated, slaughtering five or six will cause the player to periodically summon one or two Voidmites which will help destroy the building.
- Rift Herald, will return, but with a look inspired by Voidgrub. New in Season Start 2024, if the player destroys the Eye of the Herald, the Rift Herald will appear as normal, but the user or allied champion will be able to right-click the Rift Herald and ride it. The player can then control the Rift Herald and command it to lunge forward, dealing damage and knocking away enemy champions in its path. If the player crashes the Rift Herald into a turret, it will deal more damage than if the Rift Herald crashes into the turret without being controlled. After hitting the terrain or turret, the champion riding the Rift Herald will fall and return to normal.
- Camp Void, after the game has been running for 20 minutes, the next time Blue Sentinel and Red Brambleback reappear, they will be Voidborn Sentinel and Voidborn Brambleback. This transformation makes them difficult to take down. However, now this transformation provides a buff to all players on the team that performs the takedown, excluding allies who are dead when the buff is taken down. Additionally, after 20 minutes, the Rift Scuttler will reappear as a Voidborn Scuttler. When killed, the Voidborn Scuttler will unleash a massive Scryer's Bloom effect, revealing all champions and wards in a large surrounding area. Similar to Scryer's Bloom, all wards uncovered this way will be reduced to 1 HP.
- Baron Nashor, in addition to the visual update, Baron Nashor also gets three new forms: Territorial Baron, Hunting Baron, and All-Seeing Baron. Each of these forms brings terrain changes to the Baron pit. Hunting Baron does not change its pit, Territorial Baron spawns a wall in front of the pit, and finally, All-Seeing Baron closes the front and opens both sides to create a tunnel. Additionally, each Baron variant has a different attack: the Hunting Baron blasts all nearby enemies with lightning from above, the Territorial Baron uses its new arms to pull champions towards it, and the All-Seeing Baron opens a Void Rift that creates a damage zone over time. in the new pit tunnel

2. Terrain Changes in League of Legends
- Top Lane, will get two big changes: the terrain on both sides will now be leveled, and there will be a mix of walls and small bushes in the middle of the river entrance
- Jungle, the biggest terrain change in the jungle is the addition of a wide wall directly across from the Baron pit and Drake pit
- Mid Lane, the bushes will be pushed back a little to add a protection area for champions who are not too mobile
- Bot Lane, Just like the changes to the top lane, a mix of walls and small bushes will be added to the side of the bot. Additionally, the three-bush area on the blue side has been equalized to the red side. This change is designed so that the path is more symmetrical and no one side has an advantage
3. Other Upcoming Changes
- Item, Mythic items will be removed from the game with the aim of shifting the power of the items to the champions themselves thereby giving players more freedom with their build paths. With these changes, there will be a ton of item additions, deletions, and adjustments to powers and effects. Additionally, updates to item tooltips will be rolled out to make descriptions easier to understand at a glance while keeping detailed information viewable as needed.
- Drake, once the Infernal Drake's Infernal Rift is locked, Infernal Cinder will appear around the map. Each cinder will provide adaptive stats and burst movement speed to the champion who takes it. When the champion dies, he will drop half of his cinder which can then be taken by an ally or enemy champion. Plus, as the terrain changes, some of the walls and small bushes for the Mountain Drake and Ocean Drake will be moved
- Dynamic Music, Along with visual changes to the Baron pit, new music will also be added when combat occurs around the Baron or other Void targets
