Riot Games’ arrival in Indonesia has been met with great reception by gamers in the country, especially the League of Legends community. Riot Games’ intention in dominating the Indonesian market has been apparent with Wild Rift's major collaborations with influencers, such as Jess No Limit and Weird Genius.
Some even speculated about Riot Games’ potential shift to directly take control of League of Legends PC.
Answering the speculation, they stated that they will not take over the control of League of Legends PC, and will focus more on Wild Rift instead.
"When we first launched League of Legends in SEA in 2011, we realized that we needed a local partner. Garena has become our partner who has played an important role in the success of League of Legends in the region," said Justin Hulog, the General Manager for Riot Games SEA, Hong Kong, and Taiwan.
"In the future, we see that Riot Games will be in a stronger position to bring Wild Rift directly to players in SEA. On the other hand, Garena will continue to be our partner for League of Legends PC and its community, and we are truly grateful for their ongoing support," he added.
League of Legends is one of the biggest PC MOBA games that used to be so popular in Indonesia. However, since its popularity started to fade away, Garena Indonesia passed the Indonesia server of League of Legends back in April 2019 and merged it with the Singapore server.
