Ryan Reynolds is now inseparable with the anti-hero character, Deadpool. Before he was famous for his role as that Marvel Comic character, Reynolds had already entered the superhero film world through a film by playing the DC Comic character, Green Lantern.

Unfortunately, the film aired in 2011 got negative reviews from many people. Many people criticized the film’s excessive use of CGI. On IMDb, this film only get 58%.

Reynolds seems to be aware of the people’s responses to Green Lantern film. The husband of the actress, Blake Lively is often make fun of the film in Deadpool 1 and 2. 

Even in the post credit scene in Deadpool 2, Deadpool who had a chance to go back in time kill Ryan Reynolds before he could play Green Lantern. This joke continued when the promotes his latest film, Reynolds pretends to forget he was in the Green Lantern film before.

In the Meet The Cast video for the upcoming film Free Guy, Reynolds appeared with Jodie Cormer (the cast of Villanelle on Killing Eve), Joe Keery (Steve Harrington in Stranger Things) and the film director of Thor Ragnarok, Taika Waititi.

Previously, Waititi was also involved in the film Green Lantern, playing the character of Tom Kalmaku, a friend from Green Lantern. However both Reynolds and Waititi emphasize that Free Guy film is the first film that they’re working together.

“I played a role in this film for Taika (Waititi). I’m a huge fan of his since a long time and it’s super cool that we finally met,” said Reynolds with a very convincing face.

Waititi also added, “I’ve known about Ryan (Reynolds) for a long time. It was very pleasant, we finally work together for a first time,” with a serious face.

Comer and Keery who are in a same place seemed to realize that these two are lying. “Didn’t you guys do a movie together?” asked Cromer and Keery.

Reynolds and Waititi denied the claim. "As I recall, this was the first time the two of us had met," Waititi said trying to convince them.

After briefly arguing, Keery finally said the "forbidden word", "Green Lantern! Both of you were in Green Lantern movie, right?,". Both Keery and Cromer were both looked excited because they had succeeded in uncovering the "lies" of Reynolds and Waititi.

Unfortunately both of them did not get the answer of their questions because when the camera turned to shoot Reynolds and Waititi's chairs, they both chose to run away.

Free Guy: A Video Game-themed Comedy Film

Free Guy itself is a new comedy film set in the world of video games. The film directed by Shawn Levy was first introduced at the New York Comic-Con which took place on 3-6 October.

This film tells the story of an NPC (Non Playable Character) in an action game. The character played by Ryan Reynolds suddenly has the ability to move freely and determine his own destiny.

Quoted by IGN who attended the first announcement of the film Free Guy at New York Comic-Con, this film promises something very interesting for the gamers. From the leaks that was showed at the announcement of this film we can also see Ryan Reynolds' habit of talking directly to the audience (breaking the 4th wall) as he often does in Deadpool.

Unfortunately the leaked video of Free Guy film has not been officially distributed on the internet. The first trailer for the film is planned to be officially distributed at the end of this year, while the full film itself will air on July 23, 2020.
