On Saturday (9/1/2021) a sad news came from a legendary Tetris player, Jonas Neubauer. His official Twitter account announced that Jonas died on 5 January 2021 from a sudden medical emergency.

The news shocked the gaming industry. Since Jonas Neubauer is an influential figure in legitimizing Tetris as an esports. Jonas won 7 Classic Tetris World Championships during his career.

It was recorded that Jonas Neubauer won Classic Tetris World Championship in 2010, 2011, 2012, and 2013. He places second at the 2014 championship. And win the next three championships in 2015, 2016, and 2017, and makes a world record in 2018 for the highest score and fastest to reach 300.000 points.

In the community, Jonas is known to be a kind individual and talented in playing Tetris. Many fans expressed their condolences upon the legend’s sudden passing.
