SBS One Piece: The Identity of The Person Who Gave Nickname For Marine Admirals
Have you ever thought, after all this time, who gave all the nicknames for all Admirals in the Marine?
Anime & Manga | 09 November
All Marine admirals have their nicknames, and often fans thought that it was their real name back then. Like Kizaru, whose real name is Borsalino, meanwhile, Kizaru means “Yellow Monkey.” Aside from Kizaru, there is Fujitora, whose real name is Issho, while Fujitora means “Purple Tiger.”
Meanwhile, Aokiji means “Blue Bird,” whose real name is Kuzan. And Akainu means “Red Dog.” And the person who is now a Fleet Admiral is Sakazuki. What those guys have in common in their nicknames? They got an animal name as well as a color name.
Kizaru received “Yellow Monkey” because his power is a light that is identical to yellow color. Aokiji called “Blue Bird” because his power is ice. Ice also can be considered as a water element that has a blue color. So, back to the question, who gave them their nickname? Surely not ordinary people!
A curious fan asked this question directly to Oda that is written in SBS One Piece volume 94. Oda replied to the answer by saying that the person is Nazu Ketagari. Oda mentioned Nazu Ketagari as a Marine who has Vice Admiral rank.
Even though Oda is yet to show this man in the manga or the anime, we can assume that his power is similar to other Vice Admirals. If all Vice Admirals are Busoshoku and Kenbunshoku Haki users, then so does Nazu.
But there’s a probability if Nazu Ketagari is a joke character who intentionally created by Oda. In Japanese, nazu ketagari means a slang of “want to give names.” Previously, Oda also showed a joke character in SBS like Attach.
Attach itself is a character who often takes pictures of pirates who later become a bounty. Previously he was mentioned by Oda in an SBS section, but as the story progresses, Attach’s appearance in the story becomes canon.
Other joke characters are Minatomo, a carpenter who repairs Makino’s bar door at the beginning of One Piece. At first, he appeared in SBS, but for an unknown reason, he appeared as Franky’s higher up in Wano arc.
The conclusion is, the man who gave names for all Marine Admirals is Nazu Ketagari. There’s a probability if later in the story, Oda will introduce this person. Maybe we can see him fighting Straw Hat Pirates somewhere in the future.
