During the Punk Hazard arc, Kuzan or Aokiji who had left the Marines arrived at Punk Hazard by riding a penguin. It’s never explained the origins of the big, cute penguin. This made a fan curious and asked Oda in an SBS column in One Piece volume 70.

“Tell me the name of the penguin that Kuzan was riding! Is he related to the Galapagos penguin? Was he treading water under the surface the entire time he was waiting for Kuzan? He’s so cute, I want to know more!” asked the fans.

Oda answered, “Yep, it is a massive penguin. He’s a member of a super penguin species that mastered swimming at seas. He’s also suitable with Aokiji’s Hie Hie no Mi and had accompanied him since he left the Marines. His name is Camel”
