Many fans are curious about Roronoa Zoro's family tree in One Piece. Is he a descendant of Shimotsuki or not? Eiichiro Oda has now answered this mystery in his column for SBS One Piece volume 105. Oda explained that Zoro is a descendant of Shimotsuki.
Starting from 55 years when Shimotsuki Kozaburo made Enma. Together with 25 of his friends, Kozaburo went to East Blue, which included Shimotsuki Furiko. Then 52 years ago, they saved a village from bandits which were later named Shimotsuki village.
Shimotsuki Furiko (Zoro's grandmother) married a swordsman in the village of Shimotsuki named Roronoa Pinzoro. Their son, Roronoa Arashi died after fighting pirates. Previously, he was married to a criminal daughter named Tera who later died of illness. Their child is Roronoa Zoro.
Zoro is also a direct descendant of Shimotsuki Ryuma whom he fought in Thriller Bark.
