Now try to guess, who do you think is the figure that inspired Oda upon creating Sanji?

A few characters made by Eiichiro Oda in One Piece are based on real-life people, including Sanji. Then, who is the figure that inspires the creation of this Straw Hat’s chef? In the SBS One Piece volume 68 column, a fan asked, “Hello Oda-sensei, I feel that Sanji is like an actor Leonardo DiCaprio from “Romeo dan Juliet”, but my friend said I’m wrong. Does Sanji is based on other people?”
Oda answered “Previously, many people guessed the same (Leonardo DiCaprio). But Sanji is based on another figure, and he’s Steve Buscemi, an actor who played in Reservoir Dogs. How cool is it? Only one people guessed it right, and it’s one of the staff in Bandai.”
Reservoir Dogs is a movie released in 1992. If we take a look at Buscemi’s appearance in the movie, he indeed looks like Sanji, and his appearance is similar to Sanji before he joins the Straw Hats, starting from the suit, to his hair. Hopefully, this can answer all of your curiosity about Sanji’s inspiration in One Piece.
