SBS One Piece: Admiral Ryokugyu's Reference Figure!
It turns out that this figure was the reference for Admiral Ryokugyu's character in One Piece!
Anime & Manga | 05 April
In an SBS One Piece column in the past, Eiichiro Oda had revealed people who were references to the Admiral such as Aokiji, Akainu, and Kizaru. Now, Oda also revealed the character he referenced to create Admiral Ryokugyu. Who is he?
In an SBS One Piece volume 105 column, a curious reader asked and guessed Oda whether the character of Ryokugyu or Aramaki was made based on a reference from an actor named Yoshio Harada or not. That's because he is a fan of this legendary actor.
Oda replied, "That's right, he was famous for his acting in the movie Ronin-gai. Unfortunately he passed away, but he was really an amazing actor." By just looking at his hair, maybe some people can already guess if Ryokugyu has something in common with him.
In the anime, Ryokugyu is voiced by Junichi Suwabe, a veteran voice actor known for his cool and charismatic voice. So far, Ryokugyu has not been shown again since the end of the Wano plot. Stay tuned for more interesting discussions about One Piece anime and manga at Dunia Games!
