SNK announced that the legendary fighting game Samurai Shodown or Samurai Spirits will feature Baiken from the Guilty Gear franchise as its fourth DLC character in Season Pass 3. The character will be launched on August 19, 2021.

SNK had previously announced that there would be a Guilty Gear character DLC for Samurai Shodown’s 3rd Season Pass at the Japan Fighting Game Publishers Roundtable event in February 2021.

Samurai Shodown launched for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One worldwide in June 2019. The Nintendo Switch version launched in Japan in December 2019 and in western countries in February 2020. The arcade version of Samurai Shodown debuted in December. October 2019, and the game also launched for Stadia in November 2019.

Samurai Shodown was launched for PC in June 2020. The was released for Xbox Series X|S on March 16, 2021.

Samurai Shodown's first Season Pass includes the DLC characters Rimururu, Basara, Kazuki, and Wan-Fu. The second Season Pass includes the DLC characters Mina, Sogetsu, Iroha, and Warden from Ubisoft's For Honor. The third Season Pass also includes the DLC character Cham Cham, released on March 16, 2021; Hibiki Takane from the game The Last Blade 2, which was released on April 22, 2021; and Shiro Tokisada Amakusa, which will be released on June 14, 2021.

SNK developed Samurai Shodown using Unreal Engine 4. This game allows up to 10 players to play multiplayer online. The game has audio of its characters' conversations in Japanese with subtitles in English, Japanese, Traditional Chinese, Simplified Chinese, Korean, French, Italian, German, Spanish, Pan-American Spanish, and Brazilian Portuguese.

Samurai Shodown is set between the events of the original game and Samurai Shodown V. The game features three new playable fighters named Darli Dagger, Wu-Ruixiang, and Yashamaru Kurama. The Returning fighters from the previous games are Haohmaru, Nakoruru, Earthquake, Galford, Hanzo Hattori, Tam Tam, Kyoshiro Senryo, Jubei Yagyu, Ukyo Tachibana, Charlotte, Genjuro Kibagami, Shiki, and Yoshitora Tokugawa.
