Week 9 of MPL Indonesia Season 16 (MPL ID S16) saw Bloody Sunday truly decide the fate of the teams still hoping to secure a playoff spot. All teams' journeys are almost over, with five teams already securing their playoff spots, with ONIC, Bigetron by Vitality, Alter Ego, EVOS, and DEWA United Esports all confirmed to advance.
Meanwhile, anxiety looms over the two teams still vying for the final spot: RRQ Hoshi and Natus Vincere. A loss for RRQ Hoshi would mean RRQ's elimination from the MPL ID S16 playoffs, making history for the first time in the MPL ID playoffs without the participation of the King. Meanwhile, avenging last season's defeat, this match also marked Natus Vincere's historic achievement by advancing to the MPL ID S16 playoffs.
After a Fierce Duel Against Navi, RRQ Fails to Qualify for the MPL ID Season 16 Playoffs
RRQ Hoshi's match against Team Liquid ID proved a nightmare for the "Kings," as a 0-2 loss forced RRQ to secure a comprehensive victory against Natus Vincere. Meanwhile, Natus Vincere had the advantage, needing just one game; a win would have automatically qualified Karss and his teammates for the playoffs.
The match between RRQ Hoshi and Natus Vincere took place on Sunday, October 19, 2025, marking the conclusion of the MPL ID Season 16 Regular Season. In Game 1, the two teams were neck and neck from the start. Natus Vincere dominated early, but RRQ Hoshi countered Natus Vincere's numerous attacks. RRQ Hoshi's performance was quite solid from the start.
Despite falling behind early, RRQ managed to fight back and turn the game around. RRQ Hoshi finally won Game 1, with an incredible fan cheer echoing throughout the MPL Arena. With just one game, RRQ could secure a playoff berth, but Natus Vincere still had hope. They could advance with a win in Game 2.
Natus Vincere once again dominated early in Game 2. Andoryuu and his teammates seized several turtle positions. They attempted to attack RRQ, but Rinz and his teammates held their ground. The match continued, with Natus Vincere's onslaught successfully held off by RRQ Hoshi. The battle for the fifth Lord proved costly.
A teamfight ensued, with Kars taking down Rinz. Aphro secured Toyy, and Natus Vincere was one step closer to eliminating RRQ from the MPL ID Season 16 playoffs. Sutsujin was lost to Andoryuu, and the King was defeated. Dyrennn and Idok remained, and Idok was the only RRQ player left standing. Natus Vincere ultimately secured victory in Game 2.
As planned, Natus Vincere advanced to the playoffs, marking RRQ's failure to qualify for the MPL ID Season 16 playoffs, making history in MPL Indonesia. The epic battle between the two teams stirred mixed emotions in the MPL Arena. Ultimately, there was only one ticket left, and Natus Vincere secured it.
