The production team for Natsuki Kizu's Given revealed on Friday that the previously announced sequel to the anime film will be aired in two parts. Although release dates for the two anime films have not been announced, the anime website also shared a retrospective video for the upcoming film series.
The 8-minute retrospective PV video re-shows the previously broadcast series. Given is an anime adapted from the manga series with the same title by Natsuki Kizu. The manga received a television anime adaptation in July 2019 with 11 episodes, followed by a one-hour anime OVA in 2020.
This shounen-ai genre film tells the story of a boy who experiences loneliness due to a disaster that befell him on his way to becoming an adult. It follows the story of Mafuyu Sato, a student who becomes the vocalist in an amateur rock band along with his three friends, namely Ritsuka Uenoyama who serves as a guitarist, Haruki Nakayama who serves as the bassist, and Akihiko Kaji who serves as the drummer in their band.
The series and films are produced by Lerche with Hikaru Yamaguchi as the director. Mina Oosawa and Yuniko Ayana are designing the characters and scriptwriting for the series, respectively. As well as having a manga version, Given also has a live-action TV drama, audio drama, and stage play version.
