Series about henshin heroes or superheroes who can transform like Kamen Rider and Ultraman are very fun to watch. But you can't only enjoy the fun in live-action tokusatsu series, these following 15 henshin-themed anime are also similar to Kamen Rider and Ultraman. Sit back and prepare your henshin pose!
1. Ultraman
Netflix's Ultraman series is an anime adaptation of a manga created by the duo Eiichi Shimizu and Tomohiro Shimoguchi (Linebarrels of Iron). No longer transforming into a giant hero but wearing armor like Iron Man, here it is told that the son of the original Ultraman Shin Hayata, Shinjiro, has the Ultraman Factor super power. He then joins the SSSP organization to fight the evil alien threats.
2. Fuuto PI
Like the previous title, Fuuto PI is an adaptation of the manga of the same title. The anime will reportedly air in 2022. The story continues the Kamen Rider W series and still depicts the adventures of Shotaro Hidari and Philip as members of the Narumi Detective Agency.
3. SSSS.Gridman
The adaptation of the Gridman tokusatsu series produced by Trigger, of course, must be included in this list. Amnesiac high school student Yuuta Hibiki finds Hyper Agent Gridman inside of a computer. He then can join up with Gridman to fight kaijus. However, every time a kaiju is defeated, people's memories of the event are erased -- including their memories of someone being killed in the attack.
4. Kill la Kill
Trigger also worked on Kill la Kill. A girl named Ryuuko Matoi wanders in search of her father's killer and arrives at Honnouji Academy led by student council president Satsuki Kiryuuin. Satsuki provides her subordinates, the Elite Four, with a special outfit called the Goku Uniform which grants the wearer superhuman abilities. Ryuuko herself later discovers Senketsu, a Kamui or God Clothes, which also gives her powers. Armed with Senketsu and the Scissor Blade left behind by his father, Ryuuko must be able to conquer the Elite Four and Satsuki and uncover all the things behind her father's death.
5. Tiger & Bunny
The superpowered people known as NEXT work as superheroes, taking sponsorships and advertisements while their activities are broadcast on the popular television show Hero TV. The hero who has the best rating for each season is crowned as the "King of Heroes". We then follow the adventures of the hero Kotetsu T. Kaburagi, who gets an amateur co-worker Barnaby Brooks, Jr. who has the same power as Kotetsu. However, even though the two of them struggle to work together, they must also solve the mystery of the murder of Barnaby's parents. This anime character design was worked on by Masakazu Katsura, the mangaka who is famous for the romantic series I's.
6. Dream Soldier Wing-Man
Mentioning Katsura's name, in 1983 he made a superhero manga series for Shonen Jump magazine entitled Wing-Man which was later adapted into an anime the following year. This series tells the story of Kenta Hirono, a sentai fan who often wishes he could transform into a hero named Wingman. His dream comes true when he meets Aoi Yume, a princess from the Podreams dimension, who carries a magical book Dream Note that can turn drawings into real objects.
7. Zet-Man
Besides Wing-Man, Katsura also made a more serious superhero manga series entitled Zet-Man. The story of the series focuses on the relationship between two rival heroes: ZET and Alpha. ZET is the transformation form of a young man named Jin Kanzaki, while Alpha is the secret identity of Kouga Amagi, a young man who uses advanced technology to fight for justice. The anime aired in 2012.

8. Revisions
Daisuke Dojima, a kidnapped student, gets involved in the strange events of Shibuya Drift that throws him 300 years into the future. There, he and other teenagers have to face off against giant machine monsters named Revision wearing the String Puppet armor. The original anime series is directed by Goro Taniguchi (Code Geass) and produced by studio Shirogumi (Moyashimon, THE iDOLM@STER: Million Live).
9. Samurai Flamenco
Masayoshi Hazama, who works as a model, decides to fulfill his childhood dream of becoming a superhero called Samurai Flamenco -- even though he doesn't have the power or technology to support his stunts. Policeman Hidenori Gotou gets involved with Hazama's antics, which at first was just silly incidents but then turned into something the two of them never thought would happen.
10. Gatchaman Crowds
A reboot or modernization of the classic anime series by studio Tatsunoko, Gatchaman. Crowds tells the story of the Gatchaman special forces who protect the Tachigawa district using the spiritual power and special armor NOTE against mysterious alien creatures called Berg Katze.
11. Infini-T Force
A short series that combines four different Tatsunoko heroes. Emi, a 17 year old teenage girl, is always left behind by her workaholic father. But suddenly she finds a mysterious pencil that summons heroes from another world: Gatchaman G-01, Casshern, Hurricane Polymar, and Tekkaman.
12. Karas
Still being directed by Tatsunoko, the six-episode anime Karas tells the story of Yousuke Otoha, a former yakuza, who lives in Shinjuku inhabited by both humans and youkai spirits. He is designated as one of the Karas, sword-wielding and superpowered warriors. Otoha is assigned to defeat his corrupt predecessor, Ekou Hoshunin.
13. Symphogear
In addition to boys in cool costumes who become role models for boys (as well as idols for girls), there is also henshin heroes-themed anime like Ultraman or Kamen Rider that feature cute female characters. One of the most popular is the Symphogear series.
A pair of idols, Tsubasa Kazanari and Kanade Amou, are heroes known as Zwei Wing. They battle the alien race Noise using the Symphogear armor which is powered by the power of music. But Kanade was forced to sacrifice herself while protecting a girl named Hibiki Tachibana, who was accidentally pierced by a shrapnel of Kanade's Symphogear, Gungnir. Two years later, Hibiki was suddenly able to awaken the power of Gungnir from within her body.
14. Guyver
Cronos Corporation creates three pairs of Guyver transformation devices, but they are stolen by a Zoanoid monster. One of them then fell into the hands of a student named Shou Fukamachi. He then has to fight against members of Cronos and Zoanoids who threaten the safety of himself or his friends. Guyver has been adapted into three different anime: Guyver: Out of Control (1986), a 12-episode anime (1989), and anime 26-episode anime (2005). There are also two live-action films, The Guyver and Guyver 2: Dark Hero.
15. Garo
Adaptation of the Garo tokusatsu series which has an adult and dark theme. Set in the Middle Ages in the fictional country of Valiante, the Makai Order of magic users is in crisis because they are seen as agents of the devil. Mendoza, the evil royal adviser, has convinced the King to hunt down and kill all the Makai Knights and Priests. In the midst of the chaos, a young Makai Knight has just returned to the kingdom, a young man with the title Golden Knight Garo.
Here’s the watch order for the anime: Garo: The Carved Seal of Flames, Garo: Divine Flame, Garo: Crimson Moon, Garo: The Fleeting Cherry Blossom, dan terakhir Garo: Vanishing Line.
