The official website and Twitter account for the anime Komi Can't Communicate (Comi-san wa Komyushou desu) based on Tomohito Oda’s manga made an announcement on Thursday, December 23, 2021. The announcement revealed that the anime Komi Can't Communicate is getting a second season in April 2022. Netflix also revealed on Twitter that the second season will be available on the platform in 2022.

The website and Twitter account will make further announcements regarding the second season in the upcoming days. The 12th and final episode of the first season of Komi Can't Communicate aired Thursday, December 23. The anime premiered on TV Tokyo and other channels on October 6, 2021. The anime then started streaming exclusively on Netflix in Japan on October 7, 2021.

The anime debuted on Netflix in other regions on October 21, 2021, two weeks after its premiere in Japan, with new episodes coming every week. Netflix will stream the anime in over 190 countries and territories, dubbed in 8 languages and subtitled in 31 languages.

Ayumu Watanabe (Mysterious Girlfriend X, After the Rain, Children of the Sea) was the chief director of the anime, whereas Kazuki Kawagoe (episode director and storyboarder for Beyblade Burst God) directed Komi Can't Communicate at OLM. Deko Akao (Snow White with The Red Hair, Noragami, Flying Witch) was in charge of the series composition. Atsuko Nakajima (Hakuoki: Demon of the Fleeting Blossom, Ranma, Tokyo Ghoul:re) was in charge of the character designs.

Tomohito Oda first launched Komi Can't Communicate in Weekly Shonen Sunday back in May 2016, after publishing a one-shot version of the manga in September 2015.
