The highly anticipated sci-fi thriller series, Parasyte: The Grey, is now officially available on Netflix. This adaptation of the legendary manga by Hitoshi Iwaaki combines action, philosophy, and deep questions about human existence.
By bringing a wider universe than the original manga, "Parasyte: The Grey" features a thrilling new story. The series is directed by Yeon Sang Ho, who previously worked on the film "Train to Busan" and the Netflix original series, "Hellbound".
The story centers on Su In (played by Jeon So Nee), a young woman caught between her human identity and the influence of a parasite. After a serious accident, his body is inhabited by a parasite named Heidi. However, Su In is not an ordinary human, he is a half-parasite and half-human mutant, who is not completely attached to these two identities.
In a story filled with chaos and destruction in the city due to parasitic attacks, Su In must deal with a complex network of alliances and betrayals, while trying to maintain her humanity. He is not alone in his struggle, together with the team led by Jun Kyung (played by Lee Jung Hyun), they are trying to fight various threatening parasitic organisms.
Despite being set in the fictional city of Namil, South Korea, Parasyte: The Grey still maintains the same time period as the original manga. According to Yeon Sang Ho, the director of this series, the location change was made to highlight what happened in Korea, while maintaining consistency with the original story which took place in Japan.
This series features famous actors such as Koo Kyo-hwan, Lee Jung-hyun, Kwon Hae-hyo, and Kim In-kwon. The main characters, Su In and Heidi, also experience several changes in this series, including in terms of communication and dynamics between them.
Parasyte: The Gray offers audiences a thrilling and immersive experience with jaw-dropping action and thought-provoking questions. Thus, fans of the original manga and new fans around the world are sure to be captivated by this captivating adaptation.
