If you’ve read the latest chapter of Attack on Titan, perhaps you’re wondering, who is the true villain of Attack on Titan? Is it Paradis, Marley, maybe even the entire universe? 

With that in mind, on this occasion, Dunia Games would like to discuss a theory on the real villain of Attack on Titan. Take a look!

The Villain in Attack on Titan

Early in the series, we’ve been exposed to the idea that the Titans were the main antagonists of the series. That’s until we found out that these Titans were just innocent people who have been turned into mindless beasts. All of their monstrous behaviors were completely out of their control.

Now that the truth behind the origins of the Titans has been revealed, we’re aware that the people responsible for the terrible experiments are the Marleyans. But, what led to these experiments? About 1,000 years ago, the King of Eldia married Ymir -- the first Titan in history -- and used her to expand Eldia into an empire, resulting in genocide, war crimes, slavery, and other horrible things.

The most fitting character to be called the real villain is King Fritz I, the despotic ruler who put his slaves in oppression. If it wasn’t because of him, Ymir wouldn’t have acquired the Titan power, which has become the main problem nowadays.

The Attack on Titan manga has given us the perspective from each side of the story -- from the people behind and outside of the walls. If you’ve spent quite some time on the manga, you’ll notice that it’s not a “black and white” world -- you can even consider any sides to be the villain, it depends on which perspective you choose to see the whole story.

However, based on the manga, now we found out that Eren Yeager has also committed a terrible, cruel act, committing genocide by using the Rumbling to awaken the Titans within the Walls and devastate the world using the Wall Titans.

If you’ve read the Attack on Titan manga and really pay attention to all the details of the story, you might agree that Eren Yeager is also a villain. Because, in one of the chapters, Eren is the mastermind of the massacre of the Reiss family. With the help of the Path, he manipulated his father, Grisha Yeager, to massacre the royal family so that there would be no more nobles on Paradis Island.

So, in conclusion, based on the recent events, Eren Yeager deserves to be considered as the villain. Because, aside from spurring his father to wipe out the nobles, Eren has also killed thousands of innocent people by ordering the Wall Titans to destroy the world.

The reason why Eren decided to go for a Rumbling is that he wants to bring peace to Paradis Island. He believes that any negotiation would never change the world’s perspective towards Paradis Island -- they will always see it as the Island of the Devils.
