Recently, HoYoverse officially announced closed beta registration for Honkai: Star Rail. The RPG will be a beginner-friendly turn-based strategy game. Aside from its exciting gameplay, the characters and the storyline of this game will certainly keep you engrossed.

1. Quoting from the latest Honkai Star Rail trailer, “When you have a chance to make a choice, make one that you know you won’t regret…”. Does it imply the game will have multiple story routes based on player choice?

Currently, the game remains in the testing phase. We pay more attention to optimization and customization of the game’s core gameplay. For the time being, players are still unable to see the complete story and storyline.

The different choices and decisions players make in this game will determine the attitude of other characters when they befriend the player. It’s a part where the players are required to "make a decision".

In terms of the other aspects, we are currently not able to divulge more. As a live service game, we will certainly continue to expand the story and storyline in the next development. Let us surprise you along the way!

2. Honkai Impact 3rd is an Action RPG and Genshin Impact is an Open World RPG. Why did HoYoverse / Cognosphere choose HSR to be a Strategy game? What is your inspiration?

Our initial goal was to create a wider variety of game products so that we could expand the gaming experience and choices for players so that more players would be able to find the types of games they love on HoYoverse. After Honkai Impact 3, we always thought about how to add completely new gameplay, but at the same time, still use the Honkai brand and give players a whole new experience and feel.

Turn-based gameplay is the kind of game we've always wanted to try. As one of the most classic types of games, with the advantages of being easy to play, and granting freedom to the gameplay and thinking, making this game continuously attracts the attention of loyal gamers. For beginners, turn-based games are very easy to play, but for experienced players who like to think, this game also provides room to explore deeper and allows players to shape the gameplay according to their rhythm and personality.

Of course whatever the gameplay of the game, it's just our way of stylizing and immersing in the game. We hope that through the integration of turn-based gameplay and Honkai, more players will get the gaming experience and the charm of Honkai.

3. Could you tell us some future planning or roadmap for Honkai Star Rail?

Honkai: Star Rail is a live service game, for which we will continue to release more content and gameplay in the future.

At the current stage, we are still working on optimizing the game's core gameplay, including the turn-based strategy aspects, extensive maps, Maze exploration, and puzzle-solving. While continuing the uniqueness of Honkai, we will also provide players with a completely new experience.

Furthermore, Roguelike gameplay will also be one of our main focuses in the future, but we don't want to make it just a challenge stage. In the future, we will try to incorporate this gameplay into players' games.

Therefore, in the upcoming Closed Beta Test, we also hope that players can give us valuable suggestions, which can help us to optimize the game's core better and create good games that satisfy everyone.

4. Is Honkai Star Rail in the same universe as Honkai Impact 3rd and A-Post-Honkai-Odyssey?

In terms of gameplay, storyline, and lore, Honkai: Star Rail still has its own version when compared to other Honkai series games. However, the uniqueness of the Honkai series - the symbiosis and resistance between humans and destiny - will continue and accompany players to embark on a romantic journey through the universe.

5. Do new players need to know the whole story of Honkai to enjoy Honkai Star Rail?

Our initial goal was to make Honkai: Star Rail a game series with a new starting point without having to start over from scratch. Therefore, new players can play it right away and understand the appeal of the "Honkai" universe. So, players don't need to play other Honkai game series to be able to understand it.

Of course, if you are interested, we also welcome players with open arms to play other games from the Honkai series! Perhaps you'll find some "surprises" and the correlation to other games.

6. It is confirmed that Honkai Star Rail will go to PC, Android, and iOS devices. How about consoles? Is there any plan to release the game on consoles?

In subsequent tests, our game will be able to be played on PC, IOS, and Android platforms, but currently, it does not include the main platforms. In terms of the other platforms, please keep up with the latest updates from us. If there is clear information, we will definitely announce it immediately.

7. Is there any multiplayer/co-op mode in Honkai Star Rail?

We will not include the content of this section in the upcoming test. Regarding whether there will be additional multiplayer gameplay systems in the future, please keep up with the latest info from us. If there are any developments, we will announce them to you.

8. Many strategy games have an auto mode these days. Will Honkai Star Rail have it too?

The auto-Battle feature will be added to the game. The initial operation of the game will be reduced to a certain extent, making it easier to play for beginners, but at the same time, giving players a fairly easy choice of experiences. Apart from that, we also provide a 2x speed feature. This feature not only helps players catch up and gain experience quickly, but it can also increase the tension and consistency in the setting where the battle is taking place.
