According to this year's 36th and 37th combined issue of Shogakukan Weekly Shonen Sunday magazine, Meitantei Conan Keisatsu Gakko Hen Wild Police Story or Detective Conan: Police Academy Arc Wild Police Story from the Detective Conan franchise by Aoyama Gosho will get an anime adaptation.

The Shogakukan Weekly Shonen Sunday magazine also revealed Detective Conan is on hiatus, and will return in the magazine's 46th issue in October 2021. Shogakukan will publish the 100th volume of Detective Conan comics on October 18, 2021.

The first arc of Detective Conan Police Academy The Wild Police Story arc tells the story of the police officers from the Detective Conan universe, including the Matsuda Arc which focuses on Jinpei Matsuda, a character at the Police Academy. This arc debuted in October 2019. This Matsuda arc has three chapters.

The second arc, focusing on Date Wataru, debuted in February 2020. The Detective Conan spin-off ended in November 2020. Shogakukan also published the second compiled book and a new manga in December 2020.

Arai launched the ongoing Meitantei Conan Zero no Tea Time manga in Weekly Shonen Sunday magazine in May 2018. The manga started its chapter serialization when the main Detective Conan comic was on hiatus.

The creator of Detective Conan, Aoyama Gosho, has often been on hiatus to conduct research since July 2018.
