TOHO Cinema released a new teaser video for Kingdom: Taishogun no Kikan (Return of the General), the fourth Kingdom live action movie based on Yasuhisa Hara's manga. The video reveals that the movie Kingdom: Taishogun no Kikan will air on July 12th 2024.

In the movie Kingdom: Taishogun no Kikan, Shinsuke Sato returns as the director. The story will cover the Shi Ka (Zi Xia) arc and the Battle of Bayou, which saw Shin (Xin) and O Ki (Wang Qi) stand together on the battlefield to withstand the invasion of Chou's (Zhao) powerful army from the north.

Anne (Anne Watanabe) also returns to the cast as the key character, Shi Ka (Zi Xia). Some of the other cast members include Kataoka Ainosuke VI as Fuu Ki (Feng Ji), Koji Yamamoto as Chou Sou (Zhao Zhuang), Yuki Yamada as Man Goku (Wan Ji), Eri Murakawa as You Li (Yu Ri), and Hinako Sakurai as Dong Mei (Tou Bi).

Kingdom's third live action movie, which premiered in Japan on July 28th 2023, ranked first in its opening weekend and became the best-received Kingdom movie among the three previous movies. Kento Yamazaki, Ryo Yoshizawa, Takao Osawa, and Kanna Hashimoto returned to voice their main characters from the previous two films. Nana Seino, Hiroshi Tamaki, and Koichi Sato from the second movie also return to play their characters.

Shinsuke Sato, a director who has had success with live action movies such as Gantz, Death Note Light up the NEW World, and Bleach, returns to helm the project. Kingdom, which first aired in Japan in April 2019, was a huge success with revenues reaching 5.73 billion yen. The second movie, Kingdom II: Harukanaru Daichi e (To Distant Lands), became the highest-grossing Japanese live action movie in Japan in 2022.

The Kingdom manga, first published in Shueisha's Weekly Young Jump magazine in 2006, continues to gain popularity and will continue its story with the fifth season of the anime premiering on January 6th 2024 on the NHK General channel.
