Shogakukan announced that Soichiro Yamamoto's manga, Teasing Master Takagi-san (Karakai Jozu no Takagi-san), will be adapted into a live action movie which will be released for the first time in Japan on May 31st 2024. Mei Nagano (actor in the live action My Broken Mariko, Ni no Kuni, Peach Girl, Burn the House Down) will play Takagi, who is now an apprentice teacher at his alma mater, while Fumiya Takahashi (Kamen Rider Zero-One) will play Nishikata, who is now a gym trainer at the same school.

Nagano stated that before being offered this role, he had read the manga and watched the anime, and he was very excited to be entering the world of Teasing Master Takagi-san.

Rikiya Imaizumi (director of the live action Hozuki-san Chi no Aneki, Chihiro-san, Just Only Love), who is also the director of this live action manga series, will direct this live action movie Teasing Master Takagi-san.

As in the live action series Teasing Master Takagi-san, Imaizumi is also the screenwriter with Tomoki Kanazawa (Sanctuary, Sabakan) and Jun Hagimori (Sabakan). Takashi Ohmama (Dances with the Dragons, Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch From Mercury, The Gene of AI) is responsible for the music.

Both the movie and the live action series were filmed entirely on Shodo Island, Kagawa Prefecture, which was also the setting for the previous anime adaptation.

The live action manga series will premiere on Netflix in March 2024, with an international release date scheduled. The series will also be broadcast on TBS's Drama Stream programming block in March 2024, every Wednesday at 12:58 JST. Rui Tsukishima (model for Shueisha's Seventeen magazine, guest actress in an episode of Kamen Rider Geats) and teenage artist Soya Kurokawa (Hirokazu Kore-eda's Monster) play Takagi and Nishikata.
