On Thursday, January 18 2024, the production team for the live action movie adapted from Soichiro Yamamoto's manga, Teasing Master Takagi-san, began releasing special videos and TV spot videos for this movie. This TV spot video for the live action movie Teasing Master Takagi-san features narration provided by voice actor Yuuki Kaji, who previously played the role of Nishikata in the anime adaptation version of Teasing Master Takagi-san.
The teaser visual for the live action movie Teasing Master Takagi-san was also revealed along with the tagline, "Nishikata, I'm back."
The live action movie Teasing Master Takagi-san is scheduled to premiere in Japan on May 31st 2024. Interestingly, this movie will tell an original story set ten years after the high school setting in the original manga story.
Mei Nagano, who previously played in the live action My Broken Mariko, Ni no Kuni, Peach Girl, and Burn the House Down, will play Takagi who is now an intern teacher at her alma mater. Meanwhile, Fumiya Takahashi, known as Kamen Rider Zero-One, will play Nishikata who is now a sports coach at the same school.
This manga will also be adapted into a live action series, which is planned to premiere on Wednesday, March 27th 2024, on the TBS channel's Drama Stream programming block, at 00:58. The series will also be available on Netflix every Tuesday.
Rikiya Imaizumi, who was previously involved in the live action Hozuki-san Chi no Aneki, Chihiro-san, and Just Only Love, is the director for both adaptations, both the series and the live action movie.
As with the live action series, Imaizumi also co-wrote the script with Tomoki Kanazawa (Sanctuary, Sabakan) and Jun Hagimori (Sabakan). Meanwhile, Takashi Ohmama (Dances with the Dragons, Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch From Mercury, The Gene of AI) is responsible for the musical composition for both adaptations.
It is also worth noting that all filming for these two adaptations took place on Shodo Island, Kagawa Prefecture, which was also the setting for the previous Teasing Master Takagi-san anime.
