Luffy, as the captain of the Straw Hat Pirates, often finds himself in a precarious situation which makes him obliged to show the best ability of his devil fruit. Throughout 1000 episodes and over 20 years of adventure, fans have watched Luffy use all his power, whether it be to fight enemies or engage in evil with his allies.

Luffy has an extensive catalog of abilities for him to use. Because of that, there was some power that was unavoidably used by formidable captains in battle. Fans will be surprised by all the powers that Luffy has but unfortunately there are some of the rarest strongest techniques that Luffy doesn't use. Curious? Here's the full discussion.

Combo Gear 2 and 3

The combined use of Luffy's two powers is one of the most interesting. If one power isn't enough to get the job done, adding a second above it will fix things.

The second Gear which utilizes the increased power of blood flow to significantly increase Luffy's speed, and Gear 3 which uses the expansion of his bones to enlarge body parts to create more power, can surprisingly be combined.

Luffy often faces situations where neither speed nor strength is enough, but both can turn things around at once.

Conqueror Haki

Luffy's ability to use his willpower and intimidation, known as Conqueror's Haki, is great for knocking down enemies. Before a boss battle, it always seems like there are minions blocking the way and hindering the heroes from achieving their goals.

Conqueror's Haki is a battle plot changer that allows Luffy to instantly knock out weak fighters and open the door for him and his teammates to turn things around. This power is rarely used because Luffy only needs it at certain moments.

Gum Gum Net

Gum Gum Net is a move where Luffy intertwined his fingers and stretches them in a net pattern to trap, catch, and knock down opponents. This ability is very important in capturing enemies, and can be useful for any mission.

The benefits of capturing enemies and being able to extort related information could be crucial to saving Luffy from all sorts of dire things. Unfortunately this power has become less relevant in One Piece so Luffy no longer uses it.

Gum Gum Bell

Gum Gum Bell is an extraordinary headbutt and very effective for dealing damage to paralyze enemies. Since Luffy is made of rubber, there is an untapped potential for how he can use his head. Luffy starts by stretching his head back and pulling him back to release a terrifying head-butt.

Usually this head-butt is like a double edged sword, but in Luffy's case, this power is extremely terrifying because his body is made of rubber.

Giant Hammer

Luffy's Gum Gum Giant Hammer is one of the rarest powers in One Piece and some fans may not recognize this attack at all. Luffy wraps his legs around his opponent's neck as he stretches and twists his legs, building up a huge amount of potential energy.

As Luffy escapes, his enemy goes into a state of fright and dizziness before landing on their heads and necks. Don Kreig is included in the list of Luffy's opponents who were hit by this attack.

Gum Gum Daze

The Gum Gum Daze ability is one of the most useful in Luffy's journey. He had once used this technique against Enel. When faced with someone who called himself a god, the Straw Hat captain shifted his mind and relied on pure instinct to counter Enel's future predicting ability.

As a result, he has a super fast attack pattern that makes Enel unable to land his attacks on Luffy.

Gum Gum Storm

When Luffy does this technique, he starts by using the Gum Gum Balloon technique. Then he twisted and blew air while spinning, generating a large amount of momentum and allowing himself to fly towards his enemy while releasing a barrage of fists. Luffy detaches himself in the process and creates an extraordinary power capable of penetrating various objects.

This technique is an ability used during one of the series' most iconic climactic scenes. Surprisingly, this power was never used again after that moment.
