League of Legends is one famous video game right now. This game is made and published by Riot back in 2009. Looking at the high sales in this game, there’s a rumor about Tencent and Riot are working on League of Legends Mobile project.

Reporting from Reuters, the cooperation between Riot and Tencent are already done since last year, but it’s not planned to be released in this year (2019). This cooperation becomes a surprise, especially for League of Legends community itself.

Previously, Tencent already gave a proposal for Riot to make League of Legends Mobile, but Riot decline the proposal in the first place. Because of the denial, Tencent make a similar game called “King of Glory” for Chinese market and becomes the fastest growing MOBA game in the world.

Aiming for global market, Tencent then introducing “Honour of Kings/ Arena of Valor” in 2016 which makes them arguing with Riot back then. Aside of the problems, they actually repair the relationship by making League of Legends Mobile.

When Reuters asking about the further information regarding this project, the unnamed source declined to reveal it -- because it’s confidential, including representative of Riot who denied to give an explanation.

“League of Legends cannot work like they were before and Riot also need a new method to make a profit, judging League of Legends is their only main source of income,” said GuTuanyi, a gametracker analyst Newzoo who resides in Amsterdam.

The mobile version slated to aiming for Asian gamers who tend to like mobile based video games, and for the desktop, they’re aiming for Western gamers. 

Gu himself added if League of Legends will be hard to become a successful title like King of Glory/ AOV if it doesn’t give innovation in the game later -- judging MOBA games these days have similarities to each other.

Newzoo itself said that League of Legends becomes popular desktop game with a total of 24.7% from all PC games in the world on April 2019. Even more on League of Legends World Championship Final 2019, this big tournament managed to touch watch hours numbers for 81.1 million -- combination of Twitch and YouTube Gaming.

Unfortunately, the success of League of Legends is not followed in Indonesia. In Indonesia, League of Legends must die and the server has to be moved to Singapore. At the beginning, there are many people who disagree, because the Singaporean serves has a little delay and it will be hard to consult if there’s a problem found.
