Egghead Island, the place where the Straw Hats fight against the Gorosei, is possibly one of Vegapunk's satellites.
Vegapunk's uniqueness lies in his ability to divide his body into six satellites, each representing an aspect of his intelligence and nature. Although only six satellites have been known so far, there is a theory that Vegapunk has an additional satellite, namely Egghead Island itself.
In this theory, Egghead Island is considered another manifestation of Vegapunk's intelligence, perhaps encompassing a larger and more complex aspect than the other six satellites. This island is not only the center of Vegapunk's advanced experiments and technology, but it may also have unique characteristics that make it seem alive, functioning as an integral part of Vegapunk.
If this theory is true, then Egghead is not just a physical location, but an entity that has the same mind as Vegapunk's other satellites. So what is the theory like?
1. What are Vegapunk's Satellites?
After more than two decades of running, fans finally got to see the figure of the most intelligent scientist in the One Piece world, Dr. Vegapunk. This happened at the beginning of the Egghead arc. Initially, a character claiming to be Vegapunk was introduced, but it was later revealed that the figure was not the real Vegapunk, but a clone or replica.
Dr. Vegapunk is the famous head scientist of the navy with various inventions. He managed to discover the secrets and uses of sea stones, understand the workings of devil fruits, and research the Lineage Factor that allows cloning.
His busy work with various research prompted him to create six clones of himself, each with different traits and characteristics: Shaka, York, Edison, Lilith, Atlas, and Phytagoras. These satellites are the embodiment of various aspects of Vegapunk's personality and intelligence, although the origin of these names has not been explained by Oda Sensei.
In the Egghead arc, Vegapunk's satellites begin to show their independence of thought. York, one of the satellites, decides to betray and leak Vegapunk's secret activities, such as research on Poneglyphs and the past. York even aspires to become one of the Celestial Dragons.
Vegapunk's satellites are an extraordinary invention in the One Piece world. They are not just clones, but entities with intelligence that continue to develop. Every day, Vegapunk asks his satellites to write reports which are then entered into Punk Records, so that their intelligence continues to improve.
This makes Vegapunk's satellites one of the greatest innovations in the One Piece story, enriching the complexity of the world and its characters.
2. Egghead Theory is Also a Vegapunk Satellite
Although Oda Sensei introduced that Vegapunk only has six satellites, an interesting theory has developed among fans.
Some fans speculate that Vegapunk actually has more than six satellites, and one of them is Egghead Island, the location of the battle between Luffy and the Gorosei as well as the main setting of this arc.
Egghead Island is the newest place visited by Luffy and the Straw Hats after their adventure in Wano. This island is special and full of surprises. Located in the New World region, Egghead is known for its extreme snowy weather and has a lot of advanced technology that looks like it comes from the future, even though Vegapunk reveals that the technology is actually from the past.
The name Egghead Island appeared in chapter 1060, when the navy reported the kidnapping of Koby by Blackbeard and mentioned their plan to dock at Egghead. The island is nicknamed "Modern Island 500 Years into the Future." Egghead has a great defense system called Frontier Dome, making it almost impenetrable and making it a prime target for the navy, which sent tens of thousands of troops to capture Vegapunk.
Egghead also has Punk Records, which stores Vegapunk's memories and knowledge. This gives the impression that the island is part of Vegapunk's brain.
3. In Addition to Egghead, Are There Any Other Satellites?
The theory that Egghead Island is one of Vegapunk's satellites raises the question of whether there are any other satellites. In previous discussions, there has been speculation that Eustass Kid is Vegapunk's seventh satellite.
This theory suggests that Vegapunk's satellites represent the seven deadly sins (Seven Deadly Sins). Vegapunk divided his brain and knowledge into six satellites or clones. If Oda is inspired by the Seven Deadly Sins, then one more satellite is needed to complete the number to seven.
The theory states that Eustass Kid is Vegapunk's seventh satellite. His Damned Punk technique provides a clue, as there is a number 7 on Kid's arm. Each of Vegapunk's satellites has an identification number, ranging from 1 to 6. Additionally, the number 8 on Egghead Island seems to support this theory.
If this theory is true, then Vegapunk has eight satellites, six of which are already known. The other two satellites, including Kid and Egghead, are still speculation. Does Vegapunk have other satellites? How many satellites did he create in total? Of course, only Oda knows the answer to this question.
