The Witcher 4 got some good news for fans. CD Projekt Red’s website just got updated, which indicates that the company confirms that the game is currently in pre-production. 

"We are very eager to revisit the universe which has shaped our history to such an extent," said president Adam Kiciński in that post. “We have recently concluded the research phase for the first game in the new Witcher saga, which means that from now on further development expenditures will be capitalized on our balance sheet.”

The teaser for The Witcher 4 features the tagline 'A New Saga Begins'. It also features a Lynx witcher medallion. Those two details featured in the teaser video seem to indicate that the plot would move from Geralt of Rivia to a new character. They have also sparked some fan theories regarding the plot in The Witcher 4. Some theories speculate that the protagonist in The Witcher 4 would be a familiar face from The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt.

CD Projekt Red will also release the latest version of The Witcher 3 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC later this year. Since it’s just been announced, it seems that The Witcher 4 is still far from completion, meaning that the release date would be years from now. So, you still need to wait for a while for the next updates on The Witcher 4.
