Let us take you on a nostalgic trip for a moment with Bloody Roar 2, one of the best fighting games on PS1!
Games | 22 September
Bloody Roar 2 (also titled Bloody Roar 2: The New Breed) is a fighting game developed and released by Hudson Soft for PlayStation 1 in 1999. At that time, the popularity of this game rivaled Tekken 3, which became the most popular fighting game on PS1. There are plenty of things that make us miss playing this game, right? In this throwback column, Dunia Games wants to talk about the memories of playing Bloody Roar 2. Have a look!
Turning into Beast Form
One of the unique things (and selling points) in this game is that each playable character (or fighter) can transform into Beast Form. Beast Form is a state where characters turn into their respective animal while maintaining their combat abilities and human body structure. In this form, the character can inflict greater damage and also execute certain moves that are unavailable in Human Form.
To change into Beast Form, the character needs to fill the Beast Form meter to the to full. This meter will be filled every time the character deals or receives damage. Once it is full, you just need to press the O button to transform.
During this state, players can use Beast Drive or are also dubbed as the ultimate attack. Beast Drive can be used at any time as long as the character is in Beast Form. The Beast Drive attacks produced by each character also come in eye-catching animations.
One of the coolest fighters in this game is Bakuryu who is a ninja and a high-school student. Bakuryu's Beast Form is a mole. His Beast Drive allows Bakuryu to produce Kage Bunshin to attack the opponent many times and ended with a cool finishing attack.

Deadly Moves
As we stated above, certain moves can be executed during Beast Form. But some moves can be executed regardless of the states you're in, for example, the move that both Long and Shenlong have. They can both do "Thousand Strikes" to the opponent, in both during Human or Beast Form.
Meanwhile, the moves that can only be done in Beast Form are Yugo's and Bakuryu's. Yugo's Beast Form allows him to bite his opponent's neck, tearing it. This move is suitable for Yugo who turns into a wolf. Meanwhile, Bakuryu's mole has long arms and sharp arms. It can stab and pierce his opponents.
To be able to do these moves and other combos, you can train yourself in Practice mode. We're pretty sure most of you have mastered most of the combos of each character.
Breaking the Stage Walls
Another interesting thing that can be done in Bloody Roar 2 is breaking the stage walls. This can only be done if the wall that surrounds the stage looks breakable (not the case with stages in an enclosed, indoor space). Players can only break through walls by throwing opponents who are K.O.-ed to the wall.
Honestly, you must have tried this, right? We have to admit that for players at that time, being able to break through walls in Bloody Roar 2 was a cool thing to do. To be able to do that, you need to use certain moves that throw your opponent very hard to the walls.
In addition to punches or kicks, you can also do this by changing to Beast Form and approaching your opponent. This is because Beast Form can throw the opponent quite far. But the damage delivered by this form is very small, so make sure your opponent is dying if you want to use this method.
So those are the things that we missed from Bloody Roar 2. Stay tuned to Dunia Games for more throwbacks. If you find this article interesting, share it with your friends.
