Coral Island opened its early access on 11 October, and has instantly become the talking point among gamers. Developed by a Yogyakarta-based studio, Coral Island shares some similarities with Harvest Moon, Animal Crossing, and Stardew Valley. For those of you who love the life-sim farming-sim genres, this game is certainly for you. Aside from farming, you can also interact with the interesting locals, and even learn to take care of the environment by picking up trash around the island. If you just started playing this game, Dunia Games is here for you to give some tips for beginners in Coral Island. Without further ado, let’s get into it.

1. Always Check the Trash Cans

In Coral Island, be sure that you always check the trash cans near buildings when you're in town. You can find seeds or even fish in the trash. Not only that, but you may also find collectibles that you can donate to the museum. Checking trash cans is one of the easiest ways to get hold of valuables as it doesn't require much effort. Even if you only get trash, you can turn it into compost or crafts.

2. Dig Every Ground With a Clover Leaf on Top of It

When you walk around the island, you may find clover leaves on the ground, including the beach area. If you dig the ground with a clover leaf on top of it, you may obtain certain items from there. From mushrooms, seeds, compost, and even coffers. If you stumble upon a coffer, you take it to the blacksmith to have it opened for 20 coins. You can find artifacts that you can donate to museums, or sell for money. You must include this activity into your daily routines so that you can quickly fill the museum shelves in no time.

3. Set the Game Time Speed to Slowest

If you are new to Coral Island, it is recommended to set the in-game time setting to the slowest. By doing so, you can explore all locations in Coral Island with no rush as you won't have to spend an entire day getting from one place to another. If your Game Time Speed is currently at 100%, a whole day takes 20 minutes in real time. Now, if you lower it down to 50%, it will take about 40 minutes. To change it, you can go to Settings, then in the Game section, select Game Time Speed and change it to 50%.

4. Don’t Forget to Move the Anchor

Although Coral Island may look like another farming simulator, one thing that makes it different is the ability to dive. On the 8th day, you will be asked to meet Ling at the Diving location. When you meet her, you will be given a diving suit and you can start diving. One thing to keep in mind, when you are diving for valuables on the seabed, be sure to move the anchor with you. By moving the anchor, you don't have to swim all the way back to resurface. You can directly press the X button to drop the anchor at a location closest to you. So, when you want to resurface, you can save time.

5. "Bribe" the Sea Turtles

Most of the tasks in Coral Island may sound easy and don't require much effort. But diving is a challenge in itself because of the presence of sea turtles at certain spots. These turtles get in your way and will only move once you give them something. Each turtle has a certain item they want and will refuse to move until they get it. The first turtle you'll encounter will require a Bronze Star Cucumber, which only grows in spring, and you must unlock the city's rank to E to unlock the spawn. If you're past the season and don't have time to plant them, the Turtles will change their demands each season, giving you new opportunities to bribe them. Don't forget to use fertilizers to increase the quality of the plants to the required level that the sea turtles demand.

6. Use the Fast Travel Feature

Coral Island has an extensive map, so it can be quite time consuming when moving from one location to another. If you don't have the time and patience, you can overcome it with the fast travel feature Coral Island has. To unlock it, you'll need to trigger a few events in the story, but don't worry as they'll all pop up in your first few weeks on Coral Island. First, learn where the island is, get to know the people, and find out what activities are the most profitable. Then, the fast travel feature will be unlocked. You can only use it after you've unlocked the monuments at certain places.

7. Replenish Your Stamina in Hot Springs

If you have experience playing farming games and life-sims, you may already be familiar seeing your character running out of stamina and fainting after working for extensive hours. With so many tasks to do every day, it's easy to get exhausted. But Coral Island provides a solution for when you need to relax and restore your stamina. After you complete the second shrine offering, you will trigger a cutscene and the hot spring will be accessible through the Bath House. Standing in the water will automatically replenish your stamina so you can get back to work and resume activities.

So, those were the 7 useful tips for beginners in Coral Island. Have you played this Indonesian-made life-sim game? Don't forget to use these tips to help you become a successful farmer on Coral Island.
