The idea of Skylar retiring hasn’t really crossed the minds of Mobile Legends fans, especially the Kingdom (RRQ fans). While he’s currently on a break, it seems more like a period of rest rather than a permanent goodbye.

Skylar has long been a key figure for RRQ. His journey to becoming one of the most respected players in the scene wasn’t quick or easy.

Initially underrated during his debut, Skylar rose to the top, becoming one of the main carries for RRQ in recent seasons. He was not only consistent but also often seen as the backbone of the team.

The Manado-born player even took on the role of team captain for RRQ in MPL ID Season 14, leading a roster full of young MDL players to the Grand Finals and eventually to the M6 World Championship.

However, this season, Skylar decided to step back. At first, his absence sparked concerns among fans. But those worries quickly faded as Toyy’s incredible performance made RRQ look dominant in the early stages of MPL ID Season 15 and the ESL Mobile Masters.

Talks of Retirement? Skylar Hits Back at Fans

Toyy’s rise to stardom was instant. Many fans were quick to praise his performance — some even went as far as suggesting that Skylar should retire. These comments surfaced during one of Skylar’s livestreams.

Streaming alongside Dyffa, Skylar responded with frustration to fans urging him to step down.

He pointed out how fans once demanded that he be given a chance to play, but now, with Toyy performing well, their opinions have shifted entirely.

Skylar criticized the fanbase for lacking appreciation for the process and expecting instant results.

“We lost at ESL and suddenly people want Skylar to play again. I swear, I can’t win with you all,” Skylar said, visibly upset.

“People just want quick results without looking at the journey. Back when I was working hard and finally got there, now you act like I’m the problem.”

He continued, saying:

“It was the same before with Bang Xinn. It’s always been like this. No clear direction, and it always ends up making someone the scapegoat.”

What’s Next for Skylar?

It’ll be interesting to see what Skylar decides for the upcoming season. With RRQ looking stronger than ever and potentially on a championship path, it may be challenging for him to return to the starting lineup under the current circumstances.

Still, in esports — especially Mobile Legends — surprises can happen at any moment.
