Square Enix began streaming a new trailer on Thursday, September 23, 2021, for Voice of Cards: The Isle Dragon Roars (Voice of Cards: Dragon no Shima), the new role-playing game (RPG) from NieR’s director Yoko Taro. The producer is Yosuke Saito, with composer Keiichi Okabe, and the character is designed by Kimihiko Fujisaka who previously worked on Drakengard.
Voice of Cards: The Isle Dragon Roars trailer shows its gameplay, the game's release date on October 28 , and a preview of the voice of Todd Haberkorn, who will voice Game Master's narration (similar to that in traditional tabletop role-playing games). Hiroki Yasumoto is the Game Master in the Japanese version.
The demo for Voice of Cards: The Isle Dragon Roars is available for Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4. The game will also be released for Nintendo Switch, PS4, and PC via Steam.
In Voice of Cards: The Isle Dragon Roars, you will explore a world shrouded in mystery, guided by the narrative voice of the Game Master (voiced in English by Todd Haberkorn). Set in a world of swords and magic, the game is told entirely through cards.
You will play the protagonist as he embarks on his journey to defeat the recently resurrected Dragon, who threatens the country and its people, in hopes of getting a big reward. He joins the adventure with his friends; Mar, a monster who is very attached to him, and Melanie, a black magician who has a grudge against the Dragon.
As a player, you'll have to make choices throughout the story, as well as join field and dungeon battles in a turn-based system that unfolds on the board, in a traditional tabletop RPG fashion.
