Square Enix has released a new trailer for Forspoken since the trailer's debut at The Game Awards. The latest Forspoken trailer revealed the game's release date on May 24, 2022, for PlayStation 5 and PC. The console exclusivity for Forspoken will end two years after the game's release.

Forspoken tells of Frey Holland who was mysteriously thrown from New York City through a portal. Frey finds herself trapped in the beautiful land of Athia, with a magic bracelet wrapped around her arm. The talking magic bracelet, "Cuff", becomes her new friend and helps Frey explore the vast land of Athia.

In search of her way back home, Frey will fight terrible monsters and face the all-powerful Tantas. Frey will also reveal the secret that awakens something in Forspoken. Ella Balinska will play the main character Frey Holland. The game centers around the character Frey as she uses her magical powers to survive.

Sony has previously stated that the game will launch in January 2022. Square Enix describes Forspoken as a story-rich action-adventure game. Square Enix's subsidiary studio, Luminous Productions, is developing the game, and designed it specifically for the PS5.

Sony first announced the game as Project Athia in June 2020. Square Enix founded studio Luminous Productions in 2018, led by Final Fantasy XV director Hajime Tabata. Unfortunately, Tabata resigned from Square Enix and Luminous Productions in October 2018.
