Genshin Impact is inseparable from the community’s drama. This time, however, is quite viral since #BoycottGenshin is trending on Twitter with more than 50.000 tweets. The hashtag invites Genshin Impact players to boycott the game. What is happening?

#BoycottGenshin started trending after several Twitter users sent an open letter to miHoYo related to racism, pedophilia, account security, and the time-consuming update.

The racism issue in the letter is about the Hilicurl that resembled the primitive tribe in real world. They consider the resemblance as dangerous as this might seem disrespectful to the primitive tribe/

Also, two dark-skinned characters (Kaeya and Xiangling) are considered to be evil. Twitter users raised the topic since the game made it like people with darker skin stone is not equal to people with lighter skin.

For the pedophilia issue, they claimed that one of the NPCs named Ulfr liked Flora, an NPC who is selling fower who looked like a young girl. They consider this as promoting pedophilia in the game.

The open letter on Twitter also mentioned Genshin Impact’s account security issue that can be easily breached. It has been an ongoing issue for a long time and never completely solved by miHoYo. They also criticized how long it took for miHoYo to update new content in the game.

With the open letter going viral, #BoycottGenshin also went viral and became the main discussion topic in the Genshin Impact player community. Some agreed, while others don’t, some event made the topic a meme. What do you think?
