Phasmophobia is a horror game that has recently gained popularity among gamers, streamers, and YouTubers. In this game, you are a ghost hunter who explores haunted houses, schools, or other buildings. However, it’s far from ghost hunters in Indonesia, because you will be able to equip yourself with various advanced gadgets, such as sensors and cameras to find the ghosts. Now, are you interested in starting your journey as a ghost hunter in Phasmophobia? Dunia Games has the complete guide for you.

1. Create Room

To play a game of Phasmophobia, first, you need to create a Room. This Room can be public or private. In public Rooms, you may team up with random players. While in private Rooms, you can invite your friends to join you with a code.

Private Rooms are created for players who want to team up with their friends and enjoy the game with some familiar faces.

2. Equipment Prep

Next, you have to prepare your equipment. You can get ready after you created your Room. It would be smart to figure out what items you will bring. Unfortunately, you can’t bring some of these items right away as you have to buy them first with the money you earn from each hunt.

If you are totally new to the game, there are a few items that you can use right away. However, since they are pretty basic, you can’t do certain activities during the hunt.

And bear in mind, that some of these items also have minimum level requirements before you can purchase them. In short, your Phasmophobia account has to reach a certain level before you can buy them.

3. Choose Your Hunting Ground

After you have prepared your equipment, the next thing is to choose the location for your hunt. Each location has its own map and has various sizes. So, you won’t get bored easily playing long periods of Phasmophobia.

And, what makes it even better is that the locations are varied every day. This may be because the developers want the players to fill the thrill of visiting different places each day -- giving you an immersive experience of a real ghost hunter!

Currently, there are seven hunting locations in Phasmophobia:

  1. Tanglewood Street House;
  2. Edgefield Street House;
  3. Ridgeview Roadhouse;
  4. Bleasdale Farmhouse;
  5. Grafton Farmhouse;
  6. Brownstone High School;
  7. Asylum.

4. Stick to the Objectives

After you chose the location and start the game, you will see the objectives of the hunt on a big board. There will also be the names of the ghosts that you’re hunting, such as "David Wilson" or "Anna Carey", which you will have to call out during the search.

There will also be some descriptions of the type of ghosts that you will meet, such as the ghost tends to bother people who are alone by themselves or the other way around.

5. Bring the Necessary Equipment to Complete the Objectives

Once you’ve found out what the objectives are, the next thing for you to do is to bring the necessary items to complete them. For example, if you have to look for a room that is at 10 degrees Celsius, then you will need to bring a Thermometer.

Since the team usually consists of 3-4 players, you can spread the equipment for each player. Each player can only carry three items max, so just stick with the items that you need to complete the objectives to find the ghosts.

As for the only item that you will always need in every hunt is the Spirit Box. With this item, you can interact with the ghosts and lure them out. And make sure to get the keys in the car to get into the building.

6. Explore the Building

Since you will never know where the ghosts will reveal themselves, you have to explore every room in the building. If you feel uneasy, just turn on the lights in every room. It may make you feel at ease as well as making it easier for you to see in those rooms.

While exploring, you have to know where the power grid is whether it’s in the basement, ground floor, or the next ones. Why is this important? Because the ghosts like to trick you by slamming the power grid to make the building pitch black.

7. Interact with the Ghosts

Once you have explored all the rooms, you can start to interact with the ghosts. Use your Spirit Box and call out the name of the ghosts and ask some questions, such as:

  • “Give us a Sign”
  • “Speak to us/me”
  • “What do you want?”
  • “Do you want us here?”
  • “Should we leave?”
  • “Where are you?”
  • “Are you there?”

You can also use other items needed for the objectives, such as the Thermometer or the EMF Reader.

8. Write Down the Paranormal Events in the Journal

If you are experiencing some paranormal events during the search, try to write them down in the journal immediately (press "J" on your keyboard). Here are some of the paranormal events that you should write in your journal:

  • Freezing Temperature: Room temperature drops below 0 degrees Celsius. You can check it using your Thermometer;
  • Fingerprints: Left by the ghosts on doors or other objects. You can check it using your UV light;
  • Ghost Writings: Ghosts left some notes. You can check it by placing the Ghost Writing Books in rooms;
  • EMF Level 5: Events that trigger the EMF Reader to reach level 5;
  • Ghost Orb: The ghosts' presence may cause small white dots to appear. You can find them on the video from the monitors in the car after setting up video cameras in rooms.

9. Guess the Type of the Ghosts

Once you’ve completed the objectives and spotted the anomalies that occurred in the building, then the next step is to guess the type of the ghosts who inhabit the place.

If you managed to write down all of the paranormal events in the journal, you will be able to make a better guess. Otherwise, it’s really hard to guess it with just one or two events.

10. Return to the Headquarters

Once you’ve done all the objectives and guessed the type of the ghosts, then you can go home. If you completed all of the objectives, including making the right guess, you will earn more money. You can then use the money to get more equipment for the next hunt.
