There are many collaborations started with the goal of building a better ecosystem for the gaming industry. And now, we have a collaboration between a publisher, a game developer, and a telecommunication service provider. The parties involved are Telkomsel, Google, and Storms.

From the press release, the publisher, Storms, just announced that its first mobile game titled "Umbra: Amulet of Light" has been released and smartphone users can download the game. This aligns with the company’s vision to work with promising mobile game studios from both global and Southeast Asia.

FYI, Storms is a startup company under Singtel, AIS, and SK Telecom. The company focuses on publishing games and developing indie game studios based in Southeast Asia for the global market.

Umbra: Amulet of Light is a 3D Puzzle game that is exciting and unique, the mobile game is developed by an indie game developer from Indonesia named Niji Games. Niji Games is one of the participants in Google's Indie Games Accelerator.

In Umbra: Amulet of Light, the player will play as an amulet owner in a mission to restore the balance between light and darkness. The plot in the game is quite intriguing, not to mention the gameplay really sharpen your mind. The aspects that make Umbra: Amulet of Light made the game become a nominee in the International Mobile Gaming Awards Southeast Asia for the second time.

Umbra: Amulet of Light is one of Storms’ first steps to spread its wings as a game publisher and a platform for the gaming community. The company promises to reach out to more promising mobile game developers to help the company realize its dream by relying on good connections between multiple companies such as Google.

“The mobile game industry is rapidly growing and we at Storms are proud to partner and learn from promising mobile game developers from Indonesia and global when we are still developing. With Google and Telkomsel, we found a gem in Niji Games, and we hoped to help Niji Games in fulfilling its ambition,” David Yin, CEO of Storms stated.

To help grow the community and dynamic game ecosystem in Southeast Asia, the goal of the Indie Games Accelerator (IGA) program by Google is to help indie game developers reach their full potential. IGA itself is a six-month comprehensive program. Where the program will guide new game studios that want to build a business and increase their growth in Android and Google Play.

Niji Games reiterate the studio’s interest in working with Storm, Google, and Telkomsel on this initiative and said that the partnership can give “a new level of gaming” for Indonesian and global gamers.

“We believe that the partnership will help us in our mission to keep on developing fun and original games to inspire and bring happiness to all gamers,” Nikko Soethoadi, CEO and Co-founder Niji Games.
