On 25 January, Hearthstone brings several updates that feature Battlegrounds Buddies, an update for Mercenary, a Chinese New Year event, among other interesting updates.

Battlegrounds Buddies - January 25

Every battle feels better with a buddy. In this patch, Hearthstone introduces the Battleground Buddy System. Battlegrounds Buddies are unique minions exclusive to certain heroes, designed to synergize with the hero’s playstyle.

• New Battle System: “Buddy Meter” is fully charged during combat;
• Each Buddy has its own uniqueness for each Hero; 75 heroes and buddies will be available;
• Each copy of a Buddy will serve as a minion when in hand or on the board.

Mercenaries Village Update - January 25 

“Training Grounds” has been added to Mercenary. “Training Grounds” is a new space for your Village that allows your Mercenaries to passively gain exp as you do Bounties with your other Mercenaries, play other game modes, or even while you sleep.

• A new addition to Village - Training Ground - Mercenaries can be sent to passively earn exp;
• New Mercenaries: Balinda Stonehearth, Captain Galvangar, Lokholar, Wrathion, and Sinestra;
• New Bounties and feature updates, including Oval-Art of Portraits and Mercenaries Card Backs.

Special Tavern Brawl, Tavish vs. Rokara - January 26 

• Play as Tavish or Rokara, and select one of your mercenary companions to join you as your Hero Power;
• Unique dialogue interactions are available for each character combination;
• Your first win will grant you a Standard pack, containing cards from any set in Standard.

Book of Mercenaries: Tavish Stormpike - February 1

The Hunter, Tavish Stormpike, must overcome the Frostwolves, Horde Mercenaries, angry Trogss, his own family, and even food poisoning. Defeating all 8 bosses in this linear adventure will reward you with 1 Hunter pack, containing Hunter cards from Standard.

Lunar New Year - February 2-16

• All players will receive the Dancing Lion Card Back for free from January 25 - February 8;
• Lunar Blessing Tavern Brawl (Feb 2-9);
• Special Missions (February 2-16).
