There are 11 Naruto movies up to the Boruto era that have been produced, starting from their debut in 1997 in comics, until the story was adapted to the big screen. 1. Naruto the Movie: Ninja Clash in the Land of Snow

The first Naruto movie, Naruto the Movie: Ninja Clash in the Land of Snow, was released in Japan on August 21st 2004, and takes place after episode 101 of the Naruto series. Naruto and the rest of Team 7, Sasuke Uchiha and Sakura Haruno, are given a mission by their sensei, Kakashi Hataki - they must protect the famous actress Yukie from being kidnapped.

It is later revealed that Yukie is secretly Princess Koyuki Kazahana from an island known as the Land of Snow. Soon Team 7 finds themselves in more danger than they anticipated as they must fight against a villain who wants to overthrow Yukie's throne.

2. Naruto the Movie: Legend of the Stone of Gelel

The second Naruto movie, Naruto the Movie: Legend of the Stone of Gelel, was released on August 6th 2005 in Japan, and follows episode 160. After encountering a powerful warrior, Team 7, along with Shikamaru, are tasked with protecting the Gelel Stone, a powerful mineral. which can give its owner regenerative abilities and slow down aging.

The power of this stone was once controlled by a clan, but the war over its power caused them to become extinct. Naruto and his friends are embroiled in this feud and must prevent the stone from falling into the wrong hands.

3. Naruto The Movie 3: Guardians of the Crescent Moon Kingdom

Naruto The Movie 3: Guardians of the Crescent Moon Kingdom was released in Japan on August 5th 2006, and takes place after episode 196 of Naruto. Team 7 and Rock Lee are tasked with protecting Michiru, the prince of the Land of the Moon, and his son Hikaru Tsuki.

The team fights against Ishidate, a mercenary hired by the minister of Shabadaba to kill the prince and his son. A government conspiracy is uncovered and Naruto harnesses the power of his Nine Tails when Konoha's mercenaries and young shinobi face off. Team 7 and Rock Lee must push themselves to the limit to defeat the hired hand and his men when Michiru is later arrested.

4. Naruto Shippuden The Movie

The first Naruto Shippuden movie was released in Japan on August 4th 2007, and follows episode 32 of the series. The storyline revolves around Naruto who faces the prediction of death at the hands of monsters.

When the demon Mōryō threatens to destroy the world, Team 7, Rock Lee, and Neji Hyuga are sent to protect Shion, a priest who will be able to lock Mōryō's spirit back and save the world. However, this was not an easy task, as Mōryō sent assassins after him. Naruto and his team must keep Shion safe long enough for her to lock Mōryō's spirit back up.

5. Naruto Shippuden the Movie: Bonds

Naruto Shippuden the Movie: Bonds was released in Japan on August 2nd 2008, and follows episode 71. After enemy ninja from the Land of the Sky attacked Konoha Village to avenge the previous attack during the 2nd Ninja World War, a boy named Amaru from another destroyed village comes to warn them.

Naruto, Sakura, and Hinata protect Amaru and Doctor Shinnō, the man who healed Amaru when she was a child while trying to find out why her village was destroyed. Naruto soon discovered that Shinnō was not who he said he was and later, Sasuke appeared on the scene seeking Shinnō's assistance in an attempt to help Orochimaru. Naruto Shippuden the Movie: Bonds tests Naruto and Sasuke's friendship once again, and proves that the bond of friendship is stronger than anything.

6. Naruto Shippuden the Movie: The Will of Fire

Naruto Shippuden the Movie: The Will of Fire was released on August 1st 2009, and follows episode 121. The storyline revolves around concerns about the potential outbreak of a 4th Ninja World War when the four ninja guarding each Village simply disappear.

Everyone participates when Konoha 11 takes on Hiruko, a ninja who left the Leaf Village and wants to conquer the world after pushing it into war, and his men. In his search for power, Hiruko targets Kakashi. Kakashi gloriously leaves the village and tries to tackle Hiruko alone, but it isn't long before the Konoha 11 are after him - determined to stop Hiruko once and for all.

7. Naruto Shippuden the Movie: The Lost Tower

Naruto Shippuden the Movie: The Lost Tower was released in Japan on July 31st 2010 and follows episode 143. After Team 7 is assigned a mission to capture a missing ninja named Mukade, Naruto and Yamato are sent 20 years into the past.

While in the past, Naruto helps the queen of Loran, Sara. The Lost Tower gave fans the chance to see Minato interact with the current generation of Konoha, and Naruto got the chance to fight alongside his father. Even though this film ultimately has no influence on the main storyline, it is still an interesting watch for Naruto fans.

8. Naruto Shippuden the Movie: Blood Prison

Naruto Shippuden the Movie: Blood Prison was released in Japan on July 27th 2011, and takes place after episode 196. The movie opens with Naruto being wrongly arrested for allegedly assaulting the 4th Raikage. He was placed in Hōzuki Castle, a criminal detention facility known as the Blood Prison.

Naruto's Nine Tails chakra was restricted after the warden Mui placed the Sky Prison Control seal on Naruto, curbing his strength. When Naruto's friends come to help him, they are confronted by a powerful demon named Satori, who possesses Mui. Naruto and his friends must defeat Satori before they arrange his release.

9. Road to Ninja: Naruto the Movie

Road to Ninja: Naruto the Movie was released in Japan on July 25th 2012, and takes place after episode 251. The movie is similar to the Marvel What If? storyline, as Naruto and Sakura are transported to an alternate reality by Tobi using the Limited Tsukuyomi.

This interesting storyline gives fans a chance to see how the story would have gone if Naruto's parents were still alive, Sasuke never left Konoha Village, and Sakura was an orphan not Naruto.

10. The Last: Naruto the Movie

The Last: Naruto the Movie is the last movie to feature Naruto as the protagonist. The movie was released on December 6th 2014, and takes place after episode 493. The story is set two years after the 4th Ninja World War, and opens with the moon about to collide with Earth, caused by Toneri Otsutsuki, descendant of the twin brother of the Sage of Six Paths, Hamura Otsutsuki.

Toneri intends to kidnap Hinata, but accidentally kidnaps his sister Hanabi. Kakashi assigned Team 7 with Shikamaru to save Hinabi. Along the way, Naruto learns more about love. The Last digs deeper into Naruto and Hinata's love story and sets the stage for Boruto.

11. Boruto: Naruto the Movie

Boruto: Naruto the Movie was released on August 7th 2015, and takes place before the Naruto sequel series, Boruto: Naruto Next Generations, which focuses on Naruto and Hinata's son training to become ninjas.

Boruto forms a team with Sarada, daughter of Sasuke and Sakura, and Mitsuki, son of Orochimaru. After Naruto sacrifices himself to stop two criminals from targeting the Nine-Tails' spirit within, Sasuke and Boruto travel to another dimension to save Naruto.
